Yamaha FP9500D

Thomas989, 20.07.2012
One thing, of course, such assessments are very subjective, which is perfect for the one is perfect for others in the worst case unplayable ... ok, I try nevertheless ;-) In all the years, I have collected some pedals (Tama Iron Cobra, DW 5000, Sonor Giant Step, Sonor Jojo Mayer, Yamaha DFP9415D (predecessor of the 9500D), DFP9500D). Of all these pedals, Yamaha's 9500D is by far the best pedal! Why? I prefer a relatively weakly tensioned spring with a large beater distance to the fur. In Tama and Sonor and DW is almost impossible, either the spring begins to squeal (Sorry for the word choice, the spring is then no longer properly under voltage, and falls almost from the recording) or the Cam beats at larger Beaterwinkel against the Frame reinforcement (Sonor Giant Step first generation). The difference to the Sonor "Perfect Balance" I could clearly feel as the same during the performance despite repeated adjustment of the tension clamp clamped again and again (not a nice feeling). Fortunately I had a 9500D double pedal as a replacement. The Yamaha is for me the easiest, most direct and easiest to play pedal, in direct comparison to the Sonor Perfect Balance pedal, I felt the Yamaha as a much more lightweight and balanced, you can hardly feel the pedal when playing.
Another plus is the Beater. With most of the pedals, the side with the plastic impact surface is considerably heavier than the felt side, ie if the beater is turned around to get more attack and volume, the feeling changes drastically (quite badly with DW beaters). Due to the special design of the Yamaha Beater, the feel of both sides is nearly the same. So, do not let dazzling by names like Iron Cobra, Speed ??Cobra, Falcon, Eliminator, Demon Drive, Perfect otherwise!

If you need a new pedal, definitely the Yamaha parts anesten !!! Also the price is more than fair !!!

I just love it!

Indira, 08.12.2017
It's been 1 year that I play on it. First disconcerting contact, light game, very sensitive settings, very good ground resistance, robust, effective, good or bad because little latency.

The question of springs is often mentioned but I think I must relativize because between the setting of the bat, the direct drive system and the original spring, we go from a light game to a muscle burn ....

But where this pedal really seems to have a consensus, it's the way to play with it. This pedal is a joy with a foot flat or almost because a game with a raised foot skimming the pedal is a way of playing almost naturally and especially unique that I discovered with this pedal.

The raised heel game seems less comfortable with.
