Handy and reliable for multiple purposes - but not for 192k recording
Skaven252 19.01.2022
The Yamaha AG series of USB desktop mixers are a handy Swiss army knife for desktop audio, especially if you do a bit of podcasting or recording on the side. You can plug in your microphone with 48V Phantom power, and an additional mono and two stereo device inputs are also available. From here you can output to monitor speakers and headphones. It even has a small built-in effect section to apply dynamic compression, EQ and even reverb to the inputs. You can also monitor your microphone through the mixer to preview your voice without looping it through the desktop DAW.

The Yamaha ASIO has been very reliable and plug-n-play for me, haven't run into any freezing issues. Multiple programs can access the ASIO at the same time without conflicts. It has its own power switch, which is useful.

One bit of the marketing of this product is false however: while this audio interface can produce a 192k recording, it lacks the frequency response to actually record anything above 48k. I tested it with a Sanken co-100k microphone and the ultrasonic frequencies did not make it to the 192k recording. It's just noise above 48k.

Besides that oddity, it is a great and useful desktop mixer for streaming, gaming, audio work and recording, and it looks great in white too. It powers itself through USB so no additional power adapters to fill up your outlets are needed.

Pros:
+ Stable and reliable
+ Multiple options for inputs and outputs
+ Powered through USB

Cons:
- Lacks the frequency response for the 192k recording it's capable of

GG
AG03 Yamaha Mixer for 1 . . !
Graham George 16.08.2018
As a solo musician in a small home studio, I required a mixer as the main interphase between instrument/mic and my computer.

The AG03 was an ideal choice, as I didn't need any more than is provided with this extremely small unit.

It's simply laid out in design, and like any mixer, requires a little use to understand all the available options. (Of which there are plenty enough, despite its size!)

Running off of a usb for its power, there is one less large cable on the consul top.

Clearly laid out in diagrammatic form on the white case, via black lines, you can clearly read the controls and to what they are associated to.

Works seamlessly with my Yamaha HS7 monitors!

Pro's:
It does exactly what it says on the box/in the manual.
Easy and clearly marked out for navigation.
Takes up little space on a small consul.

Cons:
With low level lighting in the studio, the text on the monitor could be clearer. But that is just me. As a functional monitor for one person in a small home studio, I have no other cons.

Summary:
Great price.
Excellent brand.
Easy to use.
Functions perfectly.

More than pleased with this mixer!

Great little mixer, good sound, great DSP. Just one downer.
Muldor 31.07.2018
This tiny mixer costs so little and holds some great surprises under the hood; good compressor, excellent reverb and good EQ. The preamp for guitar is mediocre, not bad, a good guitarplayer will know how to steer it, but it is noisy and the distortion has this 'snails-in-a-blender' character. But for the price it's almost impossible to complain. Nice app to edit the DSP-features, loopback function, friggin' 192 Khz!! Excellent SN ratio, stable as can be. Just one thing...

The power. Do not, do not, please do not power this mixer with an iPad charger, USB-hub or something. It will make it so noisy you'll think it's broken. Get a good stabilised and _very_ low noise PSU to feed this kid, otherwise it will raise a hurricane in your monitors. That's really the only gripe I could find.

I use it way more often than I thought I would since it is so handy and sounds pretty decent. Come to think of it, it never, ever crashed or behaved weird on my MBP. Never. And 192 Khz.. If you record your own samples and edit them afterwards you can pitchshift the procreation out of them on 192. Great!!

Decent
Neesy 05.02.2021
Does the job but I had some issues with feedback that never seemed to go away after a fair while using it is my main interface/mixing console.
Might have been something other than the mixer, I'm no expert by my own admission but I upgraded and the issue was resolved, so I have to assume it was something to do with the AG03.

The feedback was only ever through monitor signal and never recorded onto tracks or transmitted, so it can produce quality work.
