Integrate your X32/M32 with Waves SoundGrid system
timoilves, 02.01.2019
I use this to turn my X32 into a soundgrid compatible IO. Running Waves LV1 system and this makes your X32/M32 available as SoundGrid compatible console / IO device.

Be careful if you take it out of the X32, its motherboard is open and you could easily harm it.

X-WSG, the gateway to live sound enhancement with WAVES plugins
Gerry_En, 29.12.2017
More effects needed:
Those who are intensively concerned with live and studio sound, may find that the 8 effect slots of an X32 are actually not too much. That can lead to the fact that they are all used without even a reverb effect is there.
At this point you may have discovered the possibility to use via USB interface and host software such as LiveProfessor (or Multirack) external plugins for reverb generation (HOFA Algoverb, WAVES TrueVerb, WAVES H reverb), the internal Outperform X32 reverbs for quality and for which the typical latencies of around 12ms are of no importance, as live often pre-delay times of 20-40ms are driven.
For non-time critical parallel effects so a very welcome extension of the X32 world.

Dynamic EQs and series switching of effects (plugins):
If you are intensively involved in live sound, you'll soon notice that even the best vocalists change their timbre between soft and loud passages (and in addition to different distances to the microphone) in such a way that they constantly strive for equalization at the EQ (typ. 200-300Hz, 1-3kHz).
How about if certain, unpleasant-sounding frequency ranges of a voice, an instrument would be automatically reduced only from a certain level?
Such dynamic EQs (level-dependent subsidence or boosts at certain frequencies) in the input channels are unfortunately hardly to be found in digital consoles up to 5kEUR. (Why? In each input channel belong at least 2 dynamic EQ bands (my opinion;)!)
Multi-band compressors (2-5 frequency bands with level-dependent reduction or increase) are already more common, eg in the BEHRINGER or MIDAS-X32 / M32 mixers, but as a special effect, which then occupies an effect slot.
In addition, it is not possible in the X32, for example, a Leisure compressor and a Combinator (ie 2 effects) sequentially looped into a channel.

Native use of the X-WSG card:
This is exactly where the X-WSG card comes in and opens up new possibilities:
With a little patience and 'tuning', it is possible to integrate the following external plugins for the X32 natively with a Macbook Pro Mid 2010 natively via the HOST software LiveProfessor:
3x vocal chain, each with F6 (dynamic full 6-band EQ), and CLA-2A (legendary compressor simulation) in series
2x A-Git with one doubler each (mono-to-stereo harmonizer, EQ, delay)
1x TrueVerb reverb effect
1x HOFA-Algoverb reverb effect.
With 64 samples buffer setting, this is possible with a roundtrip latency (time delay between Analog In and Analog Out of an SD16 stage box) of 6.2ms clean and without dropouts.
Experience from last week (mid-January 2018): X-WSG card used in X32 Compact live in native mode with WAVES Multirack on Macbook Pro Mid 2010 and 6.2ms overall latency was not (as disturbing) by professional musicians with InEar monitoring belongs!

Here (in native usage) I had hoped for a bit more in terms of the number of plug-ins that could be used at the same time and the overall latency. This can certainly be the case with a more recent computer.
Only 9ms were available via the USB interface card, and this was much more audible.

ATTENTION! Already for the native use of the X-WSG card, PC / MAC requires HOST software (LiveProfessor approx. 70 Euro or Multirack approx. 250 Euro) as well as plugins that are to be used (HOFA Algoverb approx Euro, WAVES TrueVerb 45-90 Euro, F6: 29-99 Euro, Doubler: 29-99 Euro)

Soundgrid deployment of the X-WSG card:
In order to use the X-WSG card effectively, it's not cheap, you can not avoid the use of a WAVES Soundgrid computer, on which the plugins are then calculated with much lower latency and in significantly higher numbers.
The lowest entry is the impact server with z.Zt. 899¤
Measured roundtrip latencies here are 2.22ms (!) For insert effects and 1.9ms (!!) when the input signals to the preamp are directly through multirack (dbbaudio.com). These are fantastic values!

Anyone who understands the possibilities opening up for live sound here and is once thrilled will not only get an Impact Server for their X32, but eventually even land on the emotion LV1 Mixer. It can also be operated via the X-WSG card with X32 / M32-IO hardware infrastructure and, together with the WAVES plug-ins, a superior and universal solution for the most complex live sound!
