Pricey? Unquestionable. Quality? Even more. Does it worth so much money? It depends on your perspective. A patch cable is just another link in the chain and therefore it will not drastically improve the sound by itself. But the success is when you have a pedalboard that includes more than ten patch cables and your sound is not degraded by them. That is the test that Vovox Sonorus patch cables stood with ease. This cables are noiseless, they maintain the strong and transparent signal which results in detailed and uncoloured (some would say bright) sound and are really durable. Oh yeah, they also look cool... :-) If your pedalboard includes some large pedals which have jacks on their front side (bigger format Strymon pedals, Eventide pedals...) and you like to keep some distance between the pedals, you'll probably find this particular cable (Vovox Sonorus Protect A30 TS/TS) a bit short.
When you buy vovox is because you care a lot of your signal, you love it so much, so you know it needs to have a suitable "train" to travel from the air to your sound card... Well, you want to go for Vovox, all the way. Think twice the lenght you do need, for instance, this is 1 metre long, i use it for a Minibrute and i should have took a 2 metres long one (at least).
This is so high quality and solid cable, when you touch it you can be sure you can rely on its sound quality!
I did not do any A/B tests but I can feel how my analogue synths became to shine in high-mids and how bass low end turned to be tight and punchy. Overall the sound is more open, in your face which makes it easier to take decisions during tracking and overdubbing.
For sure you can publish a record with much cheaper wires, but these will improve the quality of your music by let's say 5% and what is more important will help you hear better the source and will make it easier to take some freq wise decisions on eq, or compression, etc.
I always dream of having all vovox cables in my system, so that I can blame only myself if music sucks :)
I am using Vovox cables for both instrument and speaker cable connections. They are reliable, have a good tone but sometimes don't fit as tightly inside the socket as other cables of other brands. But no problems whatsoever. The orange label on one end of the cable shows the end which the signal direction must go towards, e.g. from guitar to amplifier. These cables are pricey compared to other brands.
