Excellent studio rack! Easy to move and modify, and all equipment is firmly set in the rack. It is easy to reach the back of your gear. I strongly recommend it to anyone who has the need of a solid studio rack.

Es gibt dieses Rack von Thomann auch in einer niedrigeren, geraden Variante. Diese wäre geeignet, um Bildschirm(e), Tastatur etc. im Sitzen zu bedienen. Mit dem 21U-Rack stehe ich beim Bedienung von Cubase vor dem Gerät, was sicherlich nicht verkehrt ist, weil ich ohnehin mehr als genug sitze. :-)

Allerdings nutze ich die 21 Höheneinheiten nicht wirklich aus. Von daher hätte es auch das kleinere Rack getan. Ich wollte den zusätzlichen Platz, um gleich noch in den Rack-Schubladen (THON RACKSCHUBLADE 2HE) Krempel wie Kabel und Mikros unterbringen zu können. Der Nutzwert dieser Schubladen ist allerdings weniger groß als erhofft. Dadurch, dass das Rack vorn abgeschrägt ist (also quasi nach hinten) gebeugt, rutschen Sachen in den Schubladen stets nach hinten. Anfangs hatte ich die Schubladen oben montiert, da waren sie fast unbedienbar. Jetzt sind sie unten über dem Musik-Computer (der ebenfalls ein 19"-Rackeinbaugerät ist, absolut empfehlenswert übrigens), was halbwegs brauchbar ist. Aber eben auch verzichtbar, wenn man bedenkt, dass solcher 19"-Kram richtig Geld kostet.

Nicht verzichten möchte ich auf die beiden Rack-Steckdosenleisten (THOMANN RACKSTECKDOSE 19"). Diese sorgen dafür, dass sich die Kabelage vorwiegend hinten im Rack konzentriert, wo sie nicht weiter stört. Ansonsten habe ich noch eine RME Fireface eingebaut. Mit 3 Rack-Schubladen ist immer noch Platz frei, und ohne die Schubladen hätte die kleinere Rack-Variante völlig ausgereicht.

Um zwei Bildschirme abzustellen (brauche ich für Cubase unbedingt), reicht der Platz oben auf dem Rack natürlich nicht aus. Da liegt jetzt eine stabile Holzplatte drüber, die den Platz in der Breite vergrößert. Die Tastatur habe ich Marke Eigenbau mit Winkeln auf einem Holzbrett vorn vor dem Rack angebracht. Da hat sie die richtige Höhe, und ich kann sie vor allem im Sitzen für die Cubase-Aufnahmefunktionen bedienen (z.B. beim Einspielen von Gitarre). Bei einem kleinere Rack stände sie schon von Hause aus in der richtigen Höhe.

Fazit: Die kleinere Rack-Variante hätte es auch getan. Für den essentiellen Krempel (Computer = 4 HE, Steckdosenleisten = 2 x 2 HE, Fireface = 1 HE) bräuchte ich nur 9 Höheneinheiten. Ansonsten nichts zu meckern. :-)
