Dominating strings for large violas
This "long" version of the dominant strings (made only in "medium") is made for violins with a length of empty swinging string (upper saddle to bridge) of 38.0 to 39.5 cm, ie for "big" violas (Usually over 42 cm body length). Especially for such perlite core strings the choice of the correct string length is decisive, so that the strings can develop their clear, overtone-rich sound and resonance. The dominant strings are classics and are enjoyed by professionals like amateurs, they are very stable and fast (about 3 days, the strings lose their metallic touch). The C-, G- and D-strings are highly recommended - neutral strings, which show the actual sound characteristics of the instrument unadulterated. The string tension is rather low, ie the strings are also suitable for historical instruments that do not tolerate too high a string tension. The A-string sounds too nasal and is especially "weak" in the high positions (therefore a star trigger in "sound"). It is recommended to replace the dominant A string with a Jagar or Larsen steel-A string. After about half a year the strings are "consumed", ie they lose their sound beauty, even if they are not damaged. With this very good price-performance ratio, an exchange of the strings after this time does not hurt too much.
