Brilliant and individual

Christoph von Feline&Strange, 18.06.2016
I am a cellist at "Feline & Strange". We are very much abroad on tour and therefore mainly by plane - a horror scenario for every cellist.
I have therefore made the development of a VIOLONCELLO sounding e-cello that fits INS HANDPACKET! My prototype, based on a YAMAHA SVC50, now has the fireside with various flights, many security checks, stage performances and studio recordings behind them.
The strings I have in my prototype unfortunately still always lose weight. This does not like every string.
The Belcanto Gold G and C strings have more flexible ends and are quite easily rebuilt - somehow you have exercise. The A- and D-strings do not have that. In the case of the repeated clamping, there is then a risk that the string is twisted in itself, which then leads the string noticeably with a bad response.
How do the strings sound? I have tried different strings of various manufacturers. The A string of the Thomastik Belcanto Gold Set was the first one to hit the cello shortly before a performance (after a string break) with a completely different set. The brilliance and the overtone richness are really striking - Since one gets really desire to go also in the highest positions.
This overtone richness makes the strings particularly interesting for every E-cello. However, the strings are also times "offended", if something is not completely one hundred percent correct and then have "speech difficulties". For a beginner or a student, these strings are therefore rather difficult to play and in the worst case, this leads to frustrations.
The workmanship is very good, although the fabric wrapping the happy touralltag likes to quit with fusseln - not bad but unsightly. Apart from that, I'm not torn in my very energetic game, even though I use "brutal" playing techniques and also like to work with plectrum. Not even the winding somewhere!
Topic Stability: After a few exercises in the studio the strings kept the mood very well. Large temperature fluctuations naturally lead to changes. If the strings are acclimatized for half an hour, this is no longer an issue.
AND GOOD LAST: Gold-colored strings on a black cello just look like a hammer!

Very special

12.09.2016
The surprise is evident from the first plucking of the A and D strings: the sound reminds of a guitar. For my rather bright and brilliantly sounding cello this is too much of the good, and to the music of Bach and Reger this almost electrically acting tone does not fit at all. Is more for E-Cellos and Apocalyptica fans.

The G- and C-strings sound much more normal and are a real discovery: radiant, agile, fast, with perfect response. Combines with Jargar strings on A and D a very successful solution of huge sound volume. It is also interesting that the tungsten wrapping of the C-string is reserved. The balance between C and G is therefore optimal.
