It is a kit, and needs a lot of adjustment
JAZZARAZZER, 03.04.2017
If you know about saxophones, or know someone who does, then this is good value for money. I have had mine for over a year and now it plays and sounds very good, but it needed a lot of adjustments. Firstly i lessened the spring tensions, which was very tight. Then there were many leaks which need a lot of pad adjustments, and the changing of some corks. The height of the keys needed adjustment too but there are many adjustment screws which is good.
Worst thing was that the high D was almost a 1/2 tone sharp, it was nearly Eb. This effected all the notes above it too. I had to remove the key and insert a cork crescent in the hole to lower the pitch. Lucking this worked and now the high notes are fairly accurate.
The octave arm on the neck did not work properly either as the hinge was not made properly. It still does not work as it should but i have managed to make it work good enough to play.
All in all a lot of problems, luckily im good mechanically and enjoy fixing things.
The intonation overall is pretty good now from top to bottom. The key heights are comfortable. After trying a variety of mouthpieces reeds and ligatures i have finally settled on vandoren A35 with rico plasticover reeds I am using the ligature which came with the sax and it is very nice although the finish is coming off.
The sax finish is good and is still like new, although it has not been gigged much and kept in its case a lot. It comes with a very nice case.
I have the TTS 150 also which I bought about 5 or 6 years before. The finishing quality on this was much better and far more playable on arrival. Does this show a drop in quality since then? An easy way to send out a sax that will play is to make the springs very tight, this will stop any leaks, but makes the instrument very hard to play.
So, as I said, if you know saxes or have a friend who does, then this is a good deal and can end up as good as any other alto sax, yamaha etc. If you dont then you will have to fight with this alto all the way and it will make playing difficult. So I would not recommend it for a beginner.
On the other hand maybe I just got one that had to be rushed out and so they did not do the setup but just tightened the springs and sent it out.
The high D note though is not just a matter of setup, the hole is in the wrong place. This is unforgivable as it is just a matter of measuring and doing it the same as the yanigisawa on which this is modelled.
Overall I am now happy with it and enjoy playing it every day.

My first saxophone
lazarov, 26.01.2019
That's my first saxophone and my opinion is based on that lack of experience I have. I used a baboo saxophone before and the transition to a real sax wasn't that difficult, but I had to change my embouchure considerably.

The instrument is cheap, but Thomann's quality control is good enough, so the horn came well sealed without any leaks.

I purchased a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece and yes, there was a certain difference in the way it sounded, but in general I found it very hard to play the low notes on it. The highs sounded a bit muddy. I upgraded to a Selmer S80 C* which I found was a great combination for my embouchure and beginner skills. Before that I thought there was a major problem with the instrument and even had a technician examine it. According to him, the instrument was fine (for the price). This is why I bought a more expensive mouthpiece and it definitely makes a great difference in the way lows and highs sound and makes the lows easier to play.

Another "issue" was that the instrument turned to be very loud. It is much louder than a bamboo sax. I had to purchase an e-Sax mute which is more expensive than the saxophone itself, but it's worth the investment if you live in an apartment.

Overall I am very satisfied with the purchase, although it requires a bit more investment after that, but that investment depends on your situation and your embouchure.

Saxophone for my students
31.07.2014
This saxophone is very consistent. As a woodwind teacher i recommend this particular model as it helps my students (from primary to high school) produce a clear and easy tone both at low and high registers. It is ergonomically supportive for variable palm sizes. The build and finish are superb. I highly recommend this saxophone for all graded music endeavours and beyond!

Perfect beginner/intermediate sax
06.04.2017
I bought this sax about a year ago just to own one (because they are beautiful instruments). I had never played sax or any other woodwind instruments before. I was surprised at how easy i was able to play the normal 2 and a half scales on it. It comes with a pair of Thomann reeds that are perfect for beginners. The tone is smooth throughout and the high and low notes are extremely easy to play. I use this instrument in my local jazz gigs and people compliment its tone all the time. It is an extremely beautiful instrument. If i had to cherry-pick i would say that you have to be quite gentle with it as i broke my octave key the very first week (maybe because i never used one before). Since then i did not have to have any other repairs and i have been playing it for over a year now. Great quality for value, wont find a better deal anywhere else.

3 diferent grade reeds
1 pair of gloves(!)
very good value for money

-
The neck strap should be softer (on the cost of the gloves maybe)
The low C (right litle finger) did not move freely after I removed the delivery locking corks due to a bented key-pad protector witch the quality control did not spot. Easily repaired by hand.
It should have metal case locks for easier opening

A great saxophone at a low price
Oks83, 22.09.2017
Ordered a saxophone for training his son. The tool I really liked. All the valve cover does not require additional configuration. Easy blowing, comfortable to play.

Good value for money!
22.09.2016
Not a professional level instrument, obviously, but compares very favourably with other instruments priced at around ¤500. I teach saxophone and recommend this instrument to my students who don't have ¤1000 to spend on a Yamaha (basically all of them).
It is sturdily built, fairly ergonomic, has a great sound for the price and I don't think they get damaged easily.
All in all, a great place to start for a student. I haven't found a sax for less than 600 that is better than this.
