Better value than the standard version
Spanna, 16.09.2015
I have used a couple of the standard version orchestra stands and while they were perfect for general use, I found that they struggled a bit with heavy loads and the plastic coupling between the upright and the flat music desk section tended of wear out (break) over time if you were trying to keep heavier loads in the correct angle to view comfortably. In fairness this was probably the result of me putting loads on the stand (big, heavy folders; heavy lamp assembly) that were beyond what was really intended.

However, the de-luxe stand has a metal clamp assembly between the tripod and the music desk part. This improves the ruggedness of the stand and I suspect it will increase the life of the stand even with non-abusive use. There is a slight drawback that the music desk part is slightly more bulky because the clamp is welded to the back and can't be folded down as much as the bog standard version, but as that folding down was part of what was causing the plastic clamps to wear out over time, I am prepared to live with the minor inconvenience. The price premium is only about ?5 for the deluxe version and I would recommend paying for the de-luxe.

If you're not going to adjust the stand much and only use lightweight music - the basic stand will suffice. If you're going to put heavier loads on the stand and adjust it / move it from place to place a lot - I'd recommend paying the premium for this stand.

The stability and reliability
Marco van Clover, 29.06.2018
I am working as a sound, light and sometimes video technical in the post Soviet as it called "the house of culture" - I need to be "the universal soldier". Also I am playing in the two members cover band, so the need for the stand was born. I was starting to look for the stand - I want to get one which are stable, light and reliable, and cheap of course. I choose this one and get almost everything. This has solid metal construction and therefor also more weight as I wanted, but as my colleague in the cover band has plastic and lighter ones, I was a witness that he needed to order spare parts. I use this one as a stand for musical sheets and also for iPad to operate digital mixer - it is stable enough that I can trust my tablet to him. There are several times, that I need the small and transparent stand for video projector - therefor this item serves also because of its stability. Of course, there are rivets instead of the screws used in the basic of the stand, but if you want "the real work horse" this stand will be the ones to trust.

This music stand is a very useful tool.
It has a good size, easy to set up and it is moderately sturdy. I have been using it on tour and so far I am happy with it.

Once you set it up it stays there.
Sissyjer, 15.01.2021
Let me start off with the one bad thing, this thing has a screw below the board that doesn't go anywhere. You can try to simply tighten the screw to create pressure for stability but it won't work. It's useless.
However, that doesn't actually affect the stand's stability.

Everything else works perfectly! It's very stable and very sturdy, I usually have 2 music books as well as my phone resting on it and it never moves or wobbles. It is quite large at the top though so keep that in mind.

Solid, big, and flexible.
Gearard, 01.12.2020
I use it in sitting position for guitar practice.

The tripod legs and tube and are big, solid and very stable.

The sheet music holder is large, solid, very flexible, and the locks to hold it in place are strong and easy to adjust.

The depth of the sheet holder is plenty big for books, pens, plectrums, slides, you name it. I thought I would need accessories but no it's plenty big for my needs.

Good value, can't fault it. I'm very happy with it.

Extremely useful. Stability is not perfect as the head is a bit loose, but it works, and that's enough

Asilova, 25.04.2020
In my view, it is the best available option Stand under 40 Euros.
Pros: Reasonable Price
Cons: The stand itself is very sturdy. However, the sheet music desk will bend if you put heavy things (e.g., tablet) on it.

Broken after 1 year
Duncfunk, 19.09.2013
I went for the deluxe model to get that extra bit of quality in my stand but unfortunately my stand is dead after only 1 year. The thread has gone in the screw that adjusts the angle of the head so now it just flops forwards with music on it. Obviously when it was new it did it's job fine although it could do with being able to adjust a little higher. Disappointed with the stand overall and will be buying K&M next time.

Arrived with a dent, but otherwise fine.

Apart from the dent in the main face, it is solid and sturdy, easy to put together, and good to use.

Exceptionally Good Quality for the Money!
Greg O., 21.05.2014
I did not expect this product to be as good as it was. On the product description is said that is was all metal and because of the price I thought that there would still be alot of plastic on it, but it is nearly all metal. Not too heavy - but easily enough weight to make sure it doesn't fall over and knock a microphone over etc, very sturdy, solid and above expectations. The bit that holds your papers (the tray part) has a slight curvature to it so that papers naturally hold themselves in place. The lip on the tray is nice and deep so it will retain folders/binders as well and it actually holds an ipad very well which is what most singers tend to bring nowadays. Big bonus is that beacuse most ipads have magnetic covers it sticks to the metal tray...it isnt going anywhere. High quality paint and good solid knobs for tightening everything up. Collapses down to a size that is easy to transport. I took a gamble on this...and am buying another! :)

Great cost benefit
02.05.2015
I bought the Thomann stand 18 month ago and I am still very satisfied with it. The Thomann stand is easy to assemble and stable. I mainly use it at home so I can't judge how the usability during a concert is.
It should not be used as a tablet pc holder. Due to the weight distribution my tablet once overturned and fell to the floor. Fortunately it didn't break. In general the stand has no problems with weight and stability as I am using it daily with a quite big and heavy folder.
Compared to other products: This stand has definitely the best cost benefit ratio. Other products in the same price range I tested couldn't satisfy in stability.

Auch hatte ich ihn schon auf einen Gig mitgenommen, und es war kein Problem ihn im Auto unterzbringen und zu transportieren. Alles in allem bin ich mitr dem Thomann Orchestra Stand Deluxe sehr zu friden. Preis Leistung stimmt in allen fällen.

Solid built but need serious QC
Dixon Lau, 11.09.2016
Unable to mount the desk as one of the "L" connector hole has a serious defect. It is likely damaged in the manufacturing process as all the coating still nicely intact. Since this carries Thomann brand, QC should be better.

Otherwise the material are very solid, steel use are thick, heavy.

Pending Thomann customer service to resolve this matter.

Sturdy but big and heavy
Staggerin' Jon, 13.11.2018
This is a quality stand that won't fall over or collapse on you; you'll need a bit of space though and it will probably live at home or in the studio because you don't want to be shifting this about on the bus!
