Love it

I wanted some new toys for my studio, just instruments and things that can let the creativity take new directions, so I bought this melodica. With some basic piano knowledge you can really have a fun time with this thing.

Pros:
- Great sound, it's actually a pretty loud instrument (keep in mind this is my first melodica so I have nothing to compare it with).
- You get both a reed to hold it like a saxophone, and a longer plastic pipe to play it like a keyboard on the table for example.
- A bag with straps you can use if you carrying it around with space for the two mouthpieces.

No cons really, great fun.

If you need something simple, but expected, you can really trust to the Thomann Melodica. Simple as a tank, but sounds very nice. Comes in the nice travel bag together with the small pipe and the mouthpiece - for your personal style of playing. I am keyboard player in the wedding cover band. After byuing this gear I can not stand to show my Thomann Melodica to my friends, so I luckilly took it to the wedding gig. Unfortunately somehow my keyboard stopped to work for a while durring the show, but "analog" Thomann Melodica saved me - I can played my solo parts without any troubles. So, if there are place for acoustic or unplugged show, inside or out - the Thomann Melodica will satified all your needs. Some people wrote that you need power to blow - to play the Thomann Melodica - my gear works very well without any special preassure. The only thing I would prefer different is the color of the Thomann Melodica - right now it comes in bright blue - so it looks more cheap or childish or not so serious - I would prefer classical black - in my case as a gear for wedding musician it will fit better.

This melodica is a very nice piece of gear. It sounds quite a lot like it's more expensive brother from Höhner, in fact I bet many people wouldn't be able to tell much a difference. The low notes are sometimes a little bit harder to sound, so you need to blow harder.

I use it in my home studio and in bandpractise to play reggae and dub. Also is a funny sound on gigs, especially played together with another melodica.

Bottom line, if you ain't got too much to spend and want to try one of these, this is probably your best buck's worth. The höhner melodica feels just a little bit better when playing, but this is only noticed when playing for extensive time and when playing chords.

This melodica does very well as a solo instrument.

Edit: It has a detuned C note in the middle after a couple of month and some other notes are also getting out of tune. Luckily I found a tutorial online how to fix the using a small file.
