Smoky, authentic sounding experience
23.01.2016
If you're looking for a "big" sound from your acoustic, then this probably isn't the guitar for you.

What do I mean by that? Well, this guitar is modelled after the pre-war guitars that were used by Blues legends such as Robert Johnson. It isn't a room filler, but rather a very vintage and plucky sound.

The finger picking experience (highly recommended method of playing this guitar) is stellar. Each note rings out clearly in a manner that immediately lets you know that you are not playing a cheaply built instrument.

The tone itself is very warm as the mahogany back and sides counter the possible brightness of the solid spruce top. It's recommended to pull out your old blues licks, and even put on a thumb pick and slide, and just let loose.

Looks? It's a downright beauty. I want to hang it up on the wall. The design is breathtakingly beautiful with the pre-war bindings. The finish itself is stellar in any light at any angle.

I would recommend this guitar for sure. Keep in mind, coming from the factory, it needs a setup for sure. That's the best way to tap into the potential lying within.

Great guitar at an exceptional price.
12.10.2015
Loar guitars are in a niche market and the Brownstone LH 204 is another model that sits well in their range. Nothing to compare it to at the price, looks great, plays great and sounds great.....bit of a bargain really. Compared to my much more expensive Takamine, the Brownstone sounds fuller and louder. I like the simple design and appearance, not showy or flashy, and remember that all those fancy abalone inlays that you get on expensive Martins, Taylors et al cost a fortune in labour and add nothing to the sound. This guitar doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is....a straightforward simple good acoustic. Brilliant !

Cheap and cheerful
Alister R., 01.03.2015
This guitar was purchased as an inexpensive 'session' guitar for gigging in Pubs etc. I have to say it's incredibly similar to the old ladder braced guitars from the 30's. I strung it with PB Elixir Lights and it soundd astonishingly good?
You could pay a fortune for a custom build that would not sound as good, honestly.
