Very solid boxes when used in pairs or more
DD Active 21.09.2019
I have owned 16 of these in total and now have 8 left. It took me a few months to work out exactly how to get these boxes to play comfortably and to the best of their abilities.

Stacked on their sides in pairs or using 4 on their sides mouth to mouth (feet to feet) is the best way to use them otherwise they bottom out and sometimes pop on lower notes. The throw and depth of 4 is very very effective and can be used for very large crowds, I have used them in large 500+ capacity venues and outside.

Using them one box a side or stacked like the rock n roll package is not very effective but can fill out the bottom end down to about 50-60hz. You won't get much lower then that in singles or stacked on top of each other.

I have tested 2 of these against 1 of my double Tp218a active boxes and these definitely get louder in pairs, the double beats them in lower frequencies but does not have the throw and clips a lot quicker. I will do a separate review on them.

These are a nightmare to move on your own, the handles are useless but if you have someone with you to lift, lift them with one hand on the wheel and one hand on the top corner. They are quite easy to throw on a van with lots of practice but moving 12 got tiring after the 4th lol. Covers and wheels are essential, paint scratches very very very easily.

Very good boxes for the money but very heavy and awkward to lift. I would always use in pairs or more, use a double 18 or single 18 active reflex box if you need single bass bins a side. Horn boxes just don't work in singles. Ideal crossover settings for these would be 38hz-80ish with a bit of eq boost around 50hz. Anything lower or higher then that will cause honking or port noise. I use these to play a variety of "Urban" music like r&b, reggae, soul, soca, house, garage and they handle it all very well.

I hope this review helps.

Big box with a big sound.
DJs4Hire 14.07.2019
I've owned 4 of these for about a year as a mobile DJ.

I brought these speakers without hearing them or knowing much about them. In short summary: I'm impressed! The truth is that I've only used all 4 speakers a few times... most of the time I only need one or two.

Good points: They're well built, simple to use and operate. They're LOUD and the throw of sound is exceptional. Price wise, they are incredible value.

Bad points: The handles are rubbish and placed awkwardly, in my opinion. The paint is not hard wearing and flakes easily.

Summary: Covers and wheels are an absolute must have! They are big and heavy speakers, but also super loud! Horn loaded speakers have a 'honky' tone to them and might be an acquired taste for dance music playback, but they do have a definite advantage over reflex cabinets, in that the bass is audible much further away in a venue. Consider 'The Box' Double 18" speakers for a rounder/deeper bass.

Good but tech knowledge is needed!

doing it in english rather than dutch for convenience (international audience)

So let me begin with saying they're huge (a folded horn subwoofer trait), the wheels are a must!

Hooking them up at home (25m2) resulted in a poor response under 40hz, another trait of horn loaded subwoofers when put in a small room

in a big (ball)room they are awesome, you will get chest thumping tight dry bass in the 40-80hz range, you really don't want them to run above 80hz and not under 35hz, so an audio processor comes in handy

i put them on a 35hz-75hz crossover and for the 0-35 hz a steep cutoff, these boxes really don't want to run 30hz or lower without nasty unloading symptoms and port noise when running high load.

actual db/SPL rating with above crossover setting is 127db/SPL 1 meter MEASURED, very respectable for the price, listed db/SPL is not reachable without blowing them up.

so in short, very good, needs an Audio processor and i must say the handles are not satisfactory, that's why 4 stars

nice speaker

extremely loud!!! i cant believe it!! really loud!! i use the rock and roll achat system for more 1000 people.
very cheap
loud as i expected

thomann doesn't have case or cloth case for this product and the wood is so delicate...and so cheap paint.. so its impossible to transport it with out any scratches on it..
