Wonderful and beautiful guitar with very good price / performance ratio

Klaus-Dieter H., 23.11.2013
As a semiprofessional guitarist, I mainly play electric guitars. But occasionally an acoustic guitar is also used on the stage, which of course is amplified electrically. My main guitar for this purpose is a Lakewood D-32 CP with LR Baggs Anthem system, which goes via an AER Domino 2A as a DI and stage monitor into the PA.

In the search for a backup guitar, which should rather be in the moderate price segment, I came across the Takamine GN71CE-BSB. The guitars make a good impression because of their very successful design. In particular, the sunburst varnish, as well as the bindings of the body and neck are emphasized here. The processing is without blame and the factory setting was ideal with a low string position for my purposes and did not need to be corrected. Even the throat curvature I did not have to adjust after I had reared my favorite strings Thomastik AC-111. Halsshaping (average strength) is also very pleasant; You immediately feel comfortable.

Already the purely acoustic sound amazed me. I would not have thought that a guitar in this price class can produce such a balanced and sonorous sound, especially since the back and sides are not full-mass. But also with this wonderfully drawn rosewood veneer (not like in the Thomann description mahogany) fantastic results are achieved in combination with the massive spruce top. It is certainly the impeccable workmanship and the mature concept of the NEX body plays an important role.

With the TP-40D preamp Takmine has succeeded a big throw. Already in the linear setting of the equalizer, it sounds from the AER round and resonant. Within a few minutes I had found my ideal sound by subtle adjustment. The whole thing is also rounded off by a notch filter, a very precise tuner, a battery check, a mid-contour button and an EQ bypass, which can be used to remove the equalizer completely from the signal path. So all very useful and very helpful features for the working stage guitarist.

Yes, what remains to be said. The very fit and well-processed Takamine case GC-WN I ordered the same, so that the guitar can also be transported reasonably.

Conclusion: If you are looking for a stage-grade Western guitar in the rather low price range, the Takamine GN-71CE is well advised as it scores alongside a striking look with very good handling and an excellent harmony.

Addendum: when I first played loudly over the PA, I had to realize that the G-string sounds much quieter. I suspect that the bridge is not quite flat at this point, which can usually be quickly remedied by finishing with sandpaper. Since, however, the piezo system is glued directly to the bridge insert, at least with this model by Takamine, there remains only a change due to faulty PU system. This of course gives two points deduction in the processing, since something like this must be noticed in the final control even with a guitar in this price class. What a pity!

Supplement: these two points deduction is now no longer. I ordered the guitar again and now everything is fine. Especially once again the reference to the very good pickup system, which for me leaves nothing to be desired. Stageerprobt has proved the guitar to be uncomplicated and very good. The handling leaves nothing to be desired. What more do you want?....?

Very good previous

25.06.2015
While I expected a slightly warmer sound by the fact of being a Takamine, the fact is that I consider that for the type of sound that brings is quite good, especially the previous one. I notice a brutal difference between the sound of the natural guitar and the electroacoustic sound that is of the highest quality.

Before I played in my group a Yamaha electroacoustic that I did not model the memory, but it cost around 1,000? And I have to re-enunciate that I prefer the Takamine.

What I like most certainly is the tread of the ropes that as well as factory is quite soft, nothing to do with other electroacustics that I have proven to break your hand.

I am certainly quite happy with the guitar, it is very good value for money, auqnue I stay with the desire that the sound was warm as the other Takamine I have heard ... maybe for that would have to go to A Takamine of a high range.

a greeting
