Excellent!

Thierry5986, 23.02.2014
I chose the SM137 to amplify a nylon guitar, a cavaquinho (Brazilian instrument with 4 very acute strings) and a viola of 10 strings. After trial and error on the placement of the microphone (the best is just before the rosette), I am fully satisfied. It is a microphone with flat response (it makes perfect the sound of the instrument) and powerful (with Phantom power).
As for the guitar, the basses are both round and well defined (very important in bossa), the treble is very clear without being flashing, as for the mediums, they are discernable even in complex chords of 4 or 5 sounds .
The cavaco is well rendered, we hear the friction of the pick on the strings (extra percussion) without excess and the sound in the treble is very faithful.
For viola, it accurately renders double-edged strings, particularly difficult to amplify clearly.
I tried yesterday in micro overhead for small perceived and choruses: a rendering again very faithful especially in the treble.
I had hesitated with a cheaper microphone type sm57 or pg87 but I really do not regret my purchase.

Just awesome...

Yes, what can you say about these microphones?

I have after a long ... yes really long back and forth these microphones as overheads for my drums.

In general, I can no longer wish for small-molecule condenders in this price class.
They simply have a clean and linear frequency response, gilded contacts and inner life, etc.
Whoever claims overheads must always be a matched pair is wrong. Certainly, whoever wants it cheaper should pay more attention. However, with Shure the processing quality is so convincing that I myself after some tests / shots no differences could determine - as cloned.
And not only the drums make the overheads a good figure - even saxophones or acoustic guitars simply sound outstanding!

Another plus is the -15 dB pad switch - other dampers want to be screwed on (or there are no) - Hey! I just just switch the switch! Super thing, only the rankommen at the switch could have been optimized.
And if you are a bit concerned with the matter and the data sheet, notice that here sound pressures up to 150 dB are possible - please tell me one who excites this!

Conclusion:
Safe, better (and more expensive) always goes!
Personally, I have to say: If you are looking for tidy overheads for your drums, do not want to spend a lot of money, these microphones are great! For gigs and smaller but qualitatively appealing recordings (drums, saxophone, acoustic guitars, choir) always sufficient!
