highly recommended for bass/guitar

Use: I used the Shure GLXD16 for many live concerts on bass guitar and electric guitar. It has been regularly used for studio recording sessions on instruments.

Clarity: I have used the Shure GLXD16 extensively on bass guitar. I use a custom Warwick infinity. Loss of tone is something bass players have to struggle with. But with this wireless system my bass sounds very strong and sturdy. There is no loss of low end and tone at all. The tone is very clean and has no static disturbance. The tone is very sturdy on guitars too. By far the best investment since I use it always.

Pros: 1. There is no signal dropouts.
2. There is no loss of tone.
3. The entire unit is very small, easy to carry and install on pedal boards.
4. The tuner is very accurate.
5. There is a mute function when the tuner is ON.
6. The battery life is very long. I think 16 hours.
7. It eliminates any earthing problems which usually would come through cables that connect the bass / guitar directly to the amp.
8.There is a very useful battery life indicator of the body pack on the switcher unit.

Cons: 1. The battery charging port on the body pack has a rubber cover which broke. It's a bit feeble. But actually it is not needed and does not hamper the function of the unit.
2. I think the price is a bit high.
3. Battery recharging of the body pack takes nearly a whole day.

1. The unit is good if you need extreme mobility during performance.
2. Good of studio recording to ensure a very clean signal.
3. Tuner and muting is very quick and helpful during performance.

Pro Quality

A long time ago, I bought a G30 from LINE6 so that I would have something to play wireless in live situation. It didn't happen before now, so basically I turned the device on TWICE. I retried it again recently: It is not working anymore (...what the hell!)

So I decided to invest in something more professional and I am not disapointed.

Build Quality: Very sturdy metal. Everything looks very solid. There is just the small rubber cab for the charging port which is reportedlY flimsy but mine is holding on.

Set up: It's close to magical. Basically, you plug the receiver, then turn on the emitter. Done. Good to go.

Sound Quality: Crystal clear signal. I can wander around, even outside and around the venue I'm playing at (bars, rehearsal place) and signal is still clear! Very impressive.

Battery: Crazy. It takes a loooong time to get a full charge; but it takes a while to deplete it. I had it at 3/4 full the first time and I had around 13 hours of play out of it. Maybe more if I had let the battery deplete fully. The 15 min for 45min/60min of playing feature is so nice. You can litteraly plug it in while setting up the show and you know you will be covered.

Tuner: This has to be mentioned. The built in tuner is extremely precise. Having the option to mute the signal to tune is great. I use this over my Kemper tuner which I thought was already very good. This one is better.

Conclusion: I highly recommend this GLXD 16. It does the job perfectly and even more with this tuner. If you want something RELIABLE with great SOUND QUALITY, this is the one. It might be more expansive than other systems but it will last both longer on stage and over time. Pretty sure I'm good to go for the next 10 years.

One tremendous box of convenience!

I'll be honest, this thing had me by the (you know what) as soon as I had laid my eyes on it during a short clip on youtube where Shure was promoting their new line of wireless solutions for 2013. With that said I was set with HIGH expectations and an urge to order this piece of equipment as soon as it got released onto the public. Since this is not a review on Thomann service it's self I'll be handling this short: Thomann did an awesome job and it was well packaged and swiftly moved to Sweden, impressive service as always.
Now for the box.
Shure GLXD16 comes well sheltered in a sturdy box and all the parts are well labeled and instructions are easy to follow. The GLDX16 it self is well structured and assembled with a metal case for both the transmitter and the receiving floor unit. First time you start it up it pairs up with the floor unit and there's nothing more to it.
It runs of a rechargeable Li-pro battery and will work 16h on a full charge. The charger for the battery is a bit plastic but this do not take anything out of this great product. I've been using mine both for practice and shows and there is nothing bad I can say about it. The tuner is well lit and good accuracy. We are tuned to C# and the tuner has no problem with lower frequencies. The whole unit is working well in our band setup with two guitar players each using a GLDX16 and we haven't had any troubles with interference or canceling outs what so ever. The signal is clear as promised and it's a joy having only one cable crowding the stage floor (the instrument cable running from amp to receiver.) There is a lot of room for adjustment both on the receiver and transmitter but since it's been so easy and well set up right out of the box, I haven't had to do any tweaking and editing, I love this thing!

That´s the way how wireless should work!

I bought the Shure GLXD16 at 18th November 2013. There are cheaper wireless systems on the market like the Line6 Relay G50, but without the tuner of the GLXD6 Pedalboard receiver. Moreover all parts are build like a tank and I use it at home, at the rehearsal rooms and live on stage. I am happy with it. Using it now for over 12 weeks, I don´t want miss it anymore.

Just charged the Shure Lithium-Ionen rechargeable battery, connected the GLXD6 Pedalboard receiver with the other pedals on my pedalboard and the GLX1 pocket transmitter with my guitar and it worked right out of the box. That is plug and play and not plug and pray! That´s the way I like it! :-)

I recognised no sound deficiency against the mid priced cables I used before. The hugh advantage against cable is the feeling you are not tethered at your pedalboard or amp and could perform your show without thinking of the length of your cable or that someone could stumble over it.

The tuner is doing its job very accurate and fast. So no necessary to have a further tuner on your pedalboard.

Just ein little thing could be better: The size of the GLXD6 Pedalboard receiver is wider than the standard pedals like from Boss etc. So you need extra space on your pedalboard. I positioned it on my BOSS BCB 60 pedalboard beside my T-Rex Gull Wah and had the luck that there was enough space for it. I think reducing the size to the standard pedal width would be great.

All in all that doesn´t harm my five star rating for this great piece of gear.
