Hot Rail

The Seymour Duncan Hot Rail is a humbucker in single coil format with adjacent coils and has more output than most of its competitors. Fat sound and sustain profusion makes it the right choice, if you want the sound to be powerful. Preferably use the Strat bridge position, but of course you can also bring other sounds to roar.

  • Ideal 50's Pickup, high windings, thereby power and sustain

DG
Fantastic pickup!
Daniel G. 770 20.09.2016
So i bought this pickup for the neck position of one of my Charvel Strats.

Pros :

- Huge fat sound, warm yet with good clarity at the same time.

- Medium-hot output. Definitely not as hot output as the bridge version of the Hot Rails. so you can still get plenty of dynamics from this pickup without it completely distorting and compressing.

- It'll match well with a medium to hot output bridge pickup with minimal volume drop when switching between pickups.

- Splits extremely well and sounds like a nice overwound singlecoil when split. Also works great in Parallel. In regular series wiring, it's like a big fat singing humbucker tone.

- Extremely versatile tonewise.

- Very well made, can't find any faults at all in the quality.

Cons :

- Sealed pickup so you can't swap the covers for different colours. You have to buy the colour you want.
(However, on the other hand.. the fact that it's sealed is actually a good thing because nothing can get inside and cause a failure).

Conclusion :

This is a fantastic sounding pickup that'll provide a plethora of great usable sounds in any guitar. Especially good in the neck position of a Strat style guitar, which is how i've been using it.

As good as fender pups.

As good as fender pups in single coil mode, and hotter in humbucker mode. I put these pups in a 1973 strat and i dont miss the originals. As a guitarist with 37 years playing original jtm45s and 100 watt marshalls from the 60's and have had done gigs with just a guitar and amp - no pedals, i know what a good sound is and these pickups sound great, thanx.

Awesome

Very hot neck pickup. Sounds like a full humbucker. Thick and aggressive. It's VERY loud so use a hot bridge pickup so you won't have volume drops. Can be split and in parallel sounds lovely. Excellent choice to beef up your neck pickup
