Seymour Duncan can be proud enough for putting their brand name on this product, this pup sounds as good as one would expect. It is anything but weak, although a passive pickup, in fact it is almost loud. It is quite balanced all throughout the frequency spectrum, with bold low-mids and the extreme lows "tamed" just enough so it doesn't sound "boomy". Although it is well articulated, it's overall character is rather dark, offering more of a "body" rather than the high end attack that you may hear from it's EMG equivalent. Given that, it sounds really fat with an overdriven sound. All around, while it is not recommended for an ultra-modern, sparkly-clean tone (think Korn's bass tone), I wound definitely recommend this pickup as an upgrade to any stock pickup on your bass. Summing-up, you get a full, bold body of tone, with a "classic", dark character, yet quite defined so it won't go anything near to muddy. It's price-tag and tone qualities may not appeal to the beginner player, but anyone over that level, with some experience over the matter of bass guitar sound, would easily appreciate this product.
