It has arrived in a nice package, delivery on time. It comes with a charming support which I immediately fixed on my stand, it looks professional and it "feels" solid and durable. I'm using it in my home studio and it's very versatile: I can double track my electric guitar (giving her some "room" in the mix) adding it to a Sm57, track my voice (with a very noice response to bass frequencies) and record live jam tracks in my studio with outstanding quality. I'm also using it for skype calls (passing through my Focusrite Scarlett 6i6) and the old mic of the webcam can not even compete with the results. All of this without going over 1000¤ such as other similar large diaphragm mics and the difference given for that jump of price would be only barely audible if you are not a professional studio engineer. PROs: versatility, quality, price CONs: none at the moment
I bought this microphone a while ago, alongside an audio interface with the hope of producing and recording music in my house - nothing too serious, just as a hobby/ pastime. The microphone arrived soon after purchasing it and comes with a very sturdy capsule, with a simple, yet highly effective shock-mount. The microphone itself is also sturdy - over time it has endured a few falls, yet still works brilliantly. Good build quality and durability is something which I find paramount and this microphone certainly fulfils that need! Beginning to use the microphone was a pleasure - the cardioid pattern is perfect for vocals and I found myself having to perform surprisingly little technical wizardry to make vocals sound full and professional. Recently I've even found myself using this microphone, over the more typical small-diaphragm condenser, for recording acoustic guitar and piano, finding it especially effective for the latter. One of the only criticisms I have for the mic is its lack of versatility in some situations - unlike other versions, the pick-up pattern can't be changed. The mic does have two switches however - a high-pass filter and a 10dB limiter, neither of which I have ever used. An opportunity even arose for me to use this mic to record a piano live, and it coped very well and did the job effectively! Overall, a very good mic, with average features.
