Roland JC-120

120 W Guitar / Keyboard Combo AmpThe great popularity of the JC-120 is based, among other things, on its optimal reproduction of the guitar's natural sound. Unlike most guitar amplifiers, which offer different types of distortion or other sound variations, the JC-120's highly advanced transistor technology focuses on the perfect, clean reproduction of the instrument's pures sound. This makes it absolutely perfect for keyboards or digital pianos.

The secret behind the amazing chorus effect that the Roland JC amplifiers are famous for is the twin-amp / two-speaker configuration. The signal is converted into a direct and a chorus signal. Each of these signals is then sent to one of the loudspeakers. The combination of these two sounds together with the reflections of the walls gives the famous chorus sound

Many dance musicians as well as keyboard players use it to this day and - interestingly - also by those from completely different musical styles, namely heavy metal Nju rock! Their cleansounds should always be ultra clean, a rule that no later than Metallica have defined - So still red hot!

Excellent Studio Amp

15.09.2015
This is a great flexible amplifier to have in the studio.

The clea sound is excellent and if you place appropriate pedals in front of it (Tube screamer for example) it delivers an lovely overdrive tone.

It is also an amp that many gigging musicians have used, so they feel comfortable using it in the studio. It is also a very loud amp if you want to take it on the road.

Last but not least, it has wonderful effects. The classic roland chorus and reverb.

Hard to beat this amp. Its one of the few that works for Metal and Jazz. Hard to believe but its true.

One-dimensional classic!

Michael748, 26.11.2009
One year ago I switched from the solid-tube marshall to the transistor Roland,
Time for a Conclusion: He can not do much but the good!

There is probably no second amp that produces the differences between guitars of different construction and pickup pickup as cleanly contours as the JC 120. If you want to present the pure guitar sound is here at its expense - who would not want versatility certainly. The Roland can only be Cleansound - see Metallica Nothing else matters - the built-in distortion controller produces only a compassionate smile, for hard boards an effect device is absolutely necessary! However, the Roland is not too cold for a transistor amplifier, which has been around 30 years old. It does not sound sterile and thin due to its characteristic reverb and the vibrato - it just does its duty: it amplifies the guitar signal.

To complain about is the sound characteristics changing with the volume as well as some housing vibrations, which in some cases can be annoying in the hard torn operation - the design finally appeals to one or not. Some may call it old-fashioned and petty: I would say classic and timeless meets it better. I like my Roland and do not give it to him, because we are so similar: No multitalent but niche and spleenig - but we know what we have on it!
