Extremely good! A dream came true!

Scott, 17.12.2009
Even the juicy features made mega-curious. Should this finally be the perfect amp for street and other on-the-go musicians, and with many inputs, built-in reverb, tone control per channel plus master regerl for ups and downs, etc.? So far in advance: The answer is clearly YES!

Have ordered the part on good luck, as the data and the concept convinced me completely. Only of the SOUND I could not of course know whether he could really hold what Roland promises. He can!!!!

Today only arrived, the part immediately inspired me - and I am quite picky, as far as sound is concerned. Quickly a Martin acoustics and a beyerdynamic TGX-80 (later also a Sennheiser MD-431) plugged, the sliding switches on each "Mic" and "instrument" pushed, briefly adjusted, a whiff Hall turned - WOW! It sounds full, warm, powerful and silky (but not corrosive)
[EDIT: A few months later I have to say that the highs can be quite a bit corrosive, even after guitar pickup or micro. But you get a good grip on the backs of the treble, be it on the master or on the channel strip.]
And you can still try to taste the respective sound control (per channel!), If all this is not enough!

OK, there is no phantom power, so do not go condensatormikros, but - honestly - who needs such a thing for street music or a small living room or Kneipengig?
[EDIT: Meanwhile I've tried a lot of different micro with the BA-330. Here is a summary of the results (for male voices = rather baritone):
- Shure SM58: All right. Plenty of pressure, some heights, but little detail (typical of the SM58 overall). Conclusion: Usable but not enough.
- Shure Beta 58: Too much heights in combination with the amp! Not usable.
- Heilsound PR35: Beautifully round, round, warm and still silky. Have already driven some gig with this Kombi. There the ballads come fine and nuanced, and Rockschrei goes also quite well. Conclusion: Recommended!
- Sennheiser MD-431: Less round and warm in the depths than the healing sound, but overall super balanced. Conclusion: For me the very best allround micro with the BA-330! No corrosive over-concretion of the highs (should also work well for women's voices, but the Heilsound should also be tried for it.)
-
And the reverb and echo components (level and "width" in one controller) can only be adjusted for all channels, but this is not a real problem. If you want to drive two different Halls for vocals and guitars, for example, take a foot pedal for the taps and use the internal Roland Hall for the vocals alone. Loud, well-lit, flexible without end ... I even get into the temptation to leave the large facility at home for all the smaller gigs and only move with this small but fine suitcase. A soundcheck in large room at really high volume is still before, but I believe that this fine box will also suffice. (Do not misunderstand: it is not a grown PA, but it should not be - or which full-fledged PA can run with a handful of batteries for hours?) Often it does not come anyway to brachial volume, because also a large plant Can not silence the loud crowd at the counter (the musicians should create by their great performance). Here, at least, a few watts of great sound is brought - point.

Why was such a great concept developed? Even for red-sweeping speakers, parties, karaoke etc. is the thing unbeatable. Fast times an announcement between, then music from the MP3 player. And all this with AA batteries, which last up to 10 hours (more eco-fashion) ?! Hats off!

Very cheap the BA-330 is not, but many active PA boxes cost similarly much and does not offer so much functionality, certainly not with battery operation.

SUPPLEMENT (almost 1 year later ...):
I am still enthusiastic. Ok, between we had some problems with digital tugging with loud singing, but these could be corrected by a software update (!) By Roland. The device I have sent back with Thomann (thank you, Thomann!) To the workshop, and a few weeks later came from Roland directly back. The problem is almost completely disappeared. Sure, you can drag the dice to tug when you put it on it, but with the new software, the limiter is probably different or better, and the sound remains useful.

I could not imagine a better portable (battery powered!) Amp. Easy, stero, well-balanced, many inputs, good sound setting possibilities, feeding an MP3 player with extra potentiometer, even stereo outputs, if one wants to expand the whole. Class!
