The waste of money
Absolutely mediocre device but at inflated cost and with a lot of bugs and problems.
Actually, the main problem:
If you try to change your buffer size or sample rate when a one app is using this crap at least - you would hear the scratch or loose the sound at all. The only way to repair it - restarting apps. Besides your apps sound settings will be reset to default. And you will configure them from the onset.
I've used many similar devices which are much cheaper but they worked stably and had no problems in using.
Do you think pay around 600 euros for such 'entertainment' it's normal? Then buy it! Good luck. You will 'have fun' with it everytime and never be bored cause it just not working fine.
Other:
Sound quality is ordinary. Nothing paranormal. There are no differences in comparision with another devices.
The only good thing is the TotalMixFX with all of it's features and controls, nothing more. But DSP is bullshit with no compressor inside. If you wanna have a compressor - pay another +350 euros for UCX version.
Summing:
If you are not a wanker audiophile forget about this device like a horrible dream. Babyface has no advantages besides routing in TotalMix. All this words about 'stability' is nothing more than an cheeky lie from vendor. You'll always get sound interruptions, screeching, crashes and bugs on either system, either buffer size and sample rate.
You can buy any other device for less money and work on it without any problems. RME doesn't costs its price at all.
