Word is that Blackstars new Series One amps are a bit special. And although £899 is hardly peanuts for a 45-watt combo, it looks a steal when compared to most so-called boutique amps. Each of the two channels has two modes: clean features warm and bright, while distortion boasts crunch and super crunch. The usual treble, mid and bass controls are here, plus something called IFS (Infinite Shape Feature). This control lets you dial in the quality of tone you want either American, British or anywhere in between. Presence and resonance controls finetune high and low frequencies respectively, and power can be reduced from 45 watts to 4.5 using the DPR (Dynamic Power Reduction) pot. This is one versatile baby indeed!
