I can highly recommend this mandolin, the tone is bright and sweet and in spite of its journey to the UK, it has stayed in tune most of today, which is a small miracle. The Romanian craftsmanship is really very, very good for the money and it feels as great as it looks. Once again, a very happy customer, thank you Thomann!

Is it fair to rate an instrument as a beginner without real comparisons? On the day of purchase? Probably not. Since I bring however almost 20 years of guitar experience, I think that one or the other comparison is possible and also statthaft.
Vorneweg: I wanted to try a mandolin once to extend my repertoire. The Bluegrass models do not appeal to me particularly and a round mandolin I wanted to do because of bad memories of Ovation guitars (yet). In addition, the adventure should not be too expensive and so only this model remained.
The mandolin is at least at the surface on the whole thoroughly processed. The somewhat more complicated works such as the bearings of the vocal vertebrae in the window head plate have a somewhat rustic finish and between zero collar and saddle was diligently worked with filling compound. Otherwise, the glue points are solid; The very clean blanket binding looks like real wood and also the inlay work on the back make a good impression.
The ventricles are nothing special but seem to work; The bridge and saddle are made of a very soft material and much too deep. The string position is not optimal but OK.
But the attitude ex factory, keyword octave purity! Especially the G-string fell uncomfortably here already in the deep positions and the higher it went, the more clearly the phenomenon could be seen also with the other strings. The footbridge already has a lot of footprint and there is no mensurcompensation. And then he was also nearly 1cm too close to the neck. This is unpleasant.
The sound is perfectly fine for a simple instrument after the necessary corrections. It is almost impossible to get all the strings octavrein, but if you put the bridge a little bit obliquely (not too much because of the distance between the strings and the course), it goes a lot. Nothing world-moving, but usable.
Compared to guitars of this price class, I'm not dissatisfied with this mandolin, quite the opposite. Since I have already seen much worse and therefore expected a weaker instrument than that which I have now got. The basis is convincing in principle, but such a factory setting frightens the inexperienced.
