Very nice hardware incarnation of positiveGrid software package in dedicated box without noticeable latency.
If you know how to use a real amp you can use this box.
Can initiate a sound creativity trough amp design visualization.
Understand tube amp and you will be able to virtualize almost everything.
It is a pity that effects are missing from the signal chain.
Looks attractive as well.

I sought the Lord and found the Holy Grail.

02.04.2017
The headline may sound a bit swollen at first glance, but strictly speaking it hits the nail on the head and helps you hopefully assign my rating as such. Initially I did not intend to buy a so-called profiling or modeling amp. Actually, I just wanted a proper tube. But then everything came quite different ... as so often in life.

The second guitarist of my band had bought an Engl Amp a few weeks ago. So the bar with us in the Proberaum was quite high and I could not let that sit on me of course. A tube had to be used (so far I played transistor). And not so a cheap part, but a decent board with a professional tone. To play a Powerchord and with immediate effect the "AHA" effect must be used, that was my goal. In the course of this I had played numerous amps. With friends, in shops, everywhere. Until a good buddy gave me the opportunity to drive me half an hour at the Positive Grid Bias Head. I was instantly fire and flame even though I fought a little with myself until I finally ordered. After all, it is not a real tube and of Kemper and Co. I had not held much to date. Ultimately, I wanted to give the device but a chance .... and was not disappointed.

I will not go into every detail, there are enough videos and reviews on YouTube. However, I would like to convey a basic understanding for the positive grid bias head and also explain what makes him so much better than his competition.

First of all - it is easy to use and the included 25 presets already cover each genre and amp with rank and name. The upper control bar allows you to adjust the settings of the positive grid software: amp, model, tube pre-amp (increase or decrease the number), distortion, topology (eg solid state), poweramp and the custom knob One herewith the noise gate). The lower bar can be seen on any x-amp of this kind, or similar. You feel right at home and achieve definite and perfect results by using the Bias Head. How to expect it from a real amp. If this is not enough, you can create your own amps (via the supplied software Bias Amp Professional) (everything can be designed freely, even the type of tube installed) or create profiles of real amps, where we are on the notorious subject Profiling. In addition, there is the ToneCloud. Why reinvent the wheel when someone else already sneaked the Meshuggah sound or created a profile of his Mesa Boogie Amp! By mouseclick one can transmit these stories to the amp. I have also installed the iOS version of Bias Amp, which a) connects perfectly to the amp and b) the possibility to change active preset settings while you are active in the head. This allows an unspeakable degree of flexibility. The own, unmistakable sound was created quite quickly and also changed in seconds break parts. And with this info I would like to move away from the technical background and to the actual "amp".

You close the bias head to its cab and no matter what genre you are in, the corresponding amp sounds 1: 1 after a tube amp, with all its facets and all its dynamics. And said dynamics is extremely impressive. If one does not think one thinks, the sound comes from a real tube. It's incredible.

My conclusion: the Bias Head is the ideal companion for the pro-chamber and concerts. With its 1.4 kilograms it is extremely light and while the others are still struggling to drag your amps, you are already drinking beer. The operation is very easy, modeling and profiling could not be more realistic. The sound is as if it were breaking from a real tube. Suitable for all styles - my band, for example, plays Death Metal. Negatives I would like to perform but I can not because there's nothing negative to report. The Bias Head supports an effect loop like any other premium amp. The haptics are perfect - the Bias Head feels like an extremely high-quality device. It can even be used as a bass amp. The flexibility is overwhelming. I have not only an amp, I have almost EVERY amp.

As a small drawback might be the look to mention. When I came to the Pro-Room with the Bias Head, I was confronted with a variety of concepts such as a retro toaster and a Japanese cuckoo clock. This, of course, had flown after 0.172 milliseconds. When I ballooned the first reef and fine-surgically filleted the fore-cerebral cortex of my colleagues. So if it does not bother you that the thing looks like Grandma's box radio, which is to access here. I'm not giving my bias head any more. In this sense: buy - you will not regret it.
