Perfect Leslie

Karlheinz aus A., 06.04.2016
I've been looking for a leslie simulation in order to put an 'orgel-like' surface in quiet pieces in my Bluesrock trio with the guitar. This works perfectly with the Rotodron recommended by the Thomann team.

High-quality optics and workmanship, more than sufficient regularities and a fresh, deep and wearing Leslie sound. And a power supply is also there. I use the part only mono and for a clean sound - as far as a single-channel TAD - Vollröhrenamp with Booster before stop is clean.

Thank you also to the Thomann team for the advice and the problem - free repayment of the previous defect (a Univibe simulation of xyr with rather muffy sound and little depth).

Edit: meanwhile I have used the Roto in a stereo setup with 2 AC15. This is a huge improvement compared to mono. It makes the sound incredibly wide with a depth that I have never managed with a chorus. A Monodelay in output 2 to the 'clean amp' me Hall fits there excellently into it. Before the Roto in stereo is not, why synonymous always, but does not interfere with the result.

Conclusion: already monosuper, but stereo a real revelation!

My stops you!

Franck806, 12.10.2015
I will try to make short ...

My quest for a Leslie cabin simulator that would suit me was long and expensive.
Over the years, I have accumulated many pedals that I hardly use any more today ...

For comparison, I have and have had: Tech 21 rotochoir, Dls rotosim, Strymon lex and mobius, Hugues and Kettner rotosphere mk2, boss rt20, Neo instruments fan 1 and mini wind, Danelectro rocky road, Others whose name I have forgotten ...
All these pedals have their qualities and their defects, some have almost only qualities but my problem has always been the addition of dist / od / fuzz to these emulators. The sound becomes (to my ears) immediately an infamous "digital-digital" boil!

In short, the Pigtronix rototron is 100% analog ..... and it's heard right away!

The controls are simple: RAMP for the acceleration of the two rotors, SLOW / FAST for the speed of both rotors and DEPTH for the presence of the effect.
Two switches: the first to engage the effect and the second to engage the acceleration and deceleration of the two rotors.
Two inputs and two outputs for possible connection in stereo.
At the back: two stereo inputs (cable very) to control the speed of both rotors with two expression pedals and a mono input to connect a footswitch to brake the rotors at the same time (BRAKE)

... in passing, the Pigtronix Dual Expression expression pedal with two inputs, costs an armor and can control the speed of both rotors simultaneously and independently ...

In my case the rototron is on the front of two amps (Ampeg gvt15h)
I never tried to plug it into an effect loop.

With a distortion pedal / od / fuzz plugged before the rototron, the sound is warm and a little dark, a bit "chorusé / phasé" but very nice.
On the other hand, it is definitely with a pedal drive connected behind it that the rototron really expresses!
The sound is then very rich, a little "bright" (in group it slice in the mix as in butter) and quite aggressive! The effect of rotation is enormous! Exactly the sound I was looking for!

For info, the demo most representative of its sound in drive is (always in my ear) that of LANCE KELTNER on youtube. We can hear all the changes as well as small defects (blows etc ...)

My rototron is placed in a looper / switcher, always on "ON" and its dedicated fuzz (Keeley Electronics sound of fuzz head)
I found its switches a bit light for my use "bourrin" so I plugged on its input BRAKE a footswitch Boss fs-5L (the fs-5u also works very well ...) Acceleration and deceleration by martyrizing the boss that is made like a tank!

For the record, the Pigtronix came to my house with a problem of operation. Le sav managed this in less than two! Thank you Thomann !!!

The rototron works without problem on two 9v inputs of my voodoo lab 4x4 power supply using a voltage doubling adapter. It consumes 75ma

I specify that I am not a purist of the "REAL" sound of Leslie 212 or 147, I have several times had the opportunity to try and I still think that if we want this sound it takes a "TRUE "Leslie's cabin!
The Neo ventilator or mini wind is in my humble opinion what comes closest in clean ..... but with a fuzz, it is the rototron!
