Great little amp!

I just received the package on the third day after order was in place (thank you Thomann) and have tried the THING for about one hour at home.
I`m totally blown away with this small amp, The sound is like from a combo 3 times bigger that this one, very clear and nice sound. No go with a drummer for sure, not enough load for this, but I will use it for home practicing, small basement gigs with friends and maybe some small event, when bass will be needed to support vocal and acoustic guitar, or so. The touch, feel and sound of the CUB like from some really hi-end device. I finally hear (especially in head-phones !!!) how good my EBMM Stingray sounds,

Total Satisfaction

Andreu Vidal, 02.07.2013
First of all, my background: In the 8 years I've been playing the bass I had dedicated, like every other son, to rock in its different variants (from metal to pop), in this context my stack Hartke was dead, but Was very correct and adapted quite well to any need he might have in that regard. By a strange rebound I ended up in a jazz group, and everything was just as well until in my group they discovered that I also played the double bass at home (I'm the kind of person who hides that kind of thing from their group). As expected, they did not take long to put a gun on my head and suggest I could buy myself a piezo. There began the problems: the first of them the additional dead. I could not fit everything in the car. Then the aggravation: the trouble of carrying both was not worth it, because the sound of the Hartke was not, by far, the optimum for a double bass. That, in a context of 3 concerts per week, is anything but sustainable.

All this I mention because Mr. Phil Jones has come to solve my problems ... and for a small fee, listen.

Although it is a secondary issue, for me the question of weight was essential. This amplifier weighs 6kg and comes, to top it off, with a comfortable case that allows you to carry it like the one carrying the beach cooler AND FREE! I am so happy that I also kicked the amplifier of practices that for so many years has accompanied me. The Bass Cub is FOR EVERYTHING. Not only for being able to carry it from here to there so happily, but for additional details such as headphone output or auxiliary input.

With that size and these functions one might wonder if it will actually be that it is an ampli of practices. Look, yes ... and no. Ask your neighbors if you need 100W to practice. If you are looking for an amplifier to play grindcore with aspirations to be heard between a battery of amps and two guitar players with their stacks of 100W valves and 4x12 "with gain to 11 go badly focused. I recommend that you change groups and , If this is not possible, that you think of another amplifier. This is not worth ... at least so hair (and I will explain) The biggest fear I had with respect to this purchase was that it was short. More than enough for a group (not Big Band, eh!) Of jazz, as well as for one of blues, folk, country and in general, everything that does not produce deafness in the medium term.Love your eardrums, musician. Modes there is the option to expand: either with a PB-300 of the same brand (a rather expensive option for my proletarian pocket), which leaves you, in short, with lozanos 350W (well if you can play with your friends lovers of Grindcore), or directly with any self-powered t.amp display. Anyway, in my case it is not necessary. In fact, it's my double bass, the moment I decide to dock, that determines when I'm going through volume. I did not have to squeeze the amp extensively enough for my old friend to start complaining.

Yes, listen, it takes half an hour to say that the ampli is very light and so and so, but why should I buy this and not a MarkBass (for example)? Easy, in my case there was no other option, except an AER Basscube ... which costs like 6 of these and weighs almost as 4. Another indispensable requirement for me were the 2 channels with independent equalization. If you are looking to load less then you have to buy a selector, an equalizer to correct, etc. The thing is no longer graceful. Plug one into each channel, equalize and go. In my case I needed a channel for the bass and another for the electric bass, another may have been graced with a better voice than mine and use the input for micro (which has it). Others, simply, are clear that it is not the same active as passive frets, fretless frets, singles that splits or humbuckers, solid that semicolon or acoustic, and will (logically) want different sounds, that to sound the same I take a single bass. My guitarist / bassist also wants one.

And sound? Well I've put 4 stars because 4½ can not. Certainly I expected a totally transparent sound, that is why I respect the personality of the double bass. It is? No. Is it bad? Neither. It is respectful of the character of the instrument. So? It's not a bad thing ... if you're not very thorough, the amplifier does not just play back the treble area, which, by chance, It is the one that my most annoying is to me.This one that differentiates a nice slap to put a box of pins to the ear.In short, it sweetens much the details like the trasteo or to hit the rope against the tablet, that is something with which I really like to play (when it sounds good).

What would you ask of this amp? NOTHING. If you find someone who will challenge (more) the laws of physics for you. For only 525EUR, do not hesitate to let me know.
