Very good sound, rather inappropriate for slides

Plunky, 04.01.2018
There is nothing to complain about the sound of this Tricone. For people who do not slide, the guitar is perfect - the curvature of the fingerboard, the saddle and the saddle pad and the narrow neck provide smooth playability. But unfortunately, I mainly play with the slide - and for this style of play, fingerboard curvature and string position are an absolute disaster. It is practically impossible to play all or even 4 or 5 strings at once with the bottleneck. If you want to slide on this instrument, you have to adjust it, that is, take out saddle and saddle pad and install those that are straight and higher. The string position is then finally plan, but then you have, due to the fingerboard curvature, at the highest and lowest strings, more distance to the fingerboard than in the middle.
By rights, you would have to take out the frets, grind the fingerboard and insert new frets, but I did not want to do that to me on a new guitar.
The processing is very Chinese. If you swept the top plate, discovered a rust stain and see how the screws are inserted - in such a way that the aluminum cones absolutely have to rub it, then you have doubts whether the (already discounted) price for this instrument is justified.
So I live with a compromise, but on a guitar, the sound is most important to me, and it makes up for the circumstances and annoyances for me.
I just did not want to order a Republic guitar from the US, because I did not want to pay the cost of returning it. However, these guitars are in the same price range, but certainly better processed.
Conclusion - after a few efforts and annoyances I am now quite satisfied, especially because the sustain in the slide and the sound itself is a dream.

Excellent tricono at a price

Fernando7923, 31.07.2015
The guitar is much more than it seems. Aesthetically it's sensational. It is not as heavy as other resonators. The pegs endure the tuning very much. The sound is sharper than a single cone, it sounds more like a banjo, but its dynamic range makes it very, very warm.
With thicker strings it acquires a lot of personality and improves enormously to play with slide.

To improve would put the piece that connects the bridge with the cones seems plastic (I do not know if it is, but I think it would have to be made of wood) and that when you put 0.13 centimeters is a bit high to touch with the fingers, although logically Is ideal for slide. I'm suggesting to lower the bridge nut to lower the height, but I'm still thinking ...

With slide it is really a pleasure.

Guitar ideal for blues, country, gypsy jazz and similar music. It has a characteristic sound to Delta Blues.

The finishes are more than correct and the construction looks resilient. Comes with a case that is not the photo, is the rigid type but lined nylon with straps to carry in the back. I use it more than my other hard case, it's very comfortable!
