Great sound quality in an affordable package
RodRed 22.11.2021
The Nux Solid studio is a IR and Power amp sim with plenty of connection possibilities and onboard options for a fair price.
For about 100 euro you get 8 cabs, 8 microphones (with 3 position possibilities) and 3 power amp simulations, which gives you a lot of possible sounds in a relatively small pedalboard-friendly package.
Of course, not all of the onboard sounds are good and we all have some preferences. But on top of all the internal possibilities, you can also load external IRs (via software and USB) so this pedal is a lot of bang for bucks! You can also use the editor software to change some other parameters including adding reverb!
It is also very easy to use since the knobs on the pedal control pretty much everything without the need to connect to a computer or navigate through infinite menus.
Pros
- Lots of possibilities
- use of third parties IRs
- All basic controls are direct in the pedal (easy of use)
- good sound quality of the onboard simulations
- several connection possibilities, including stereo out and XLR out.
- headphone output for silent practice
Cons
- almost nothing at this price, really
- It is nitpick but I wish there was a knob for the reverb
- another nitpick I wish we could change the power amp tube sim to include a 6L6 or a KT88 (it is possible through the IR loading of course)

In conclusion, I believe the NuX Solid Studio is a great solution for an amp-less setup and for home recording (and home practice via headphones). It is easy to use, sounds great, and has a lot of possibilities for experimenting and for different setups.
It is the best cab-sim pedal I tried in this price range (and I tried several). You can of course get better sound quality and features in products costing 2 or 3 times its price however to the detriment of the simplicity and portability of the NuX Solid Studio.

K
Great IR box
K.Kay 09.03.2020
I bought this stomp box mainly for direct recording in my DAW. My other two options were the Mooer radar and the more expensive two notes. I decided to go through with the NUX as i found very good customer reviews online and I’m more than happy with my purchase.

Features: The solid studio is a great piece of gear which starts from the amazing unboxing experience (similar to unboxing an apple product) and the built quality of the stomp box which is built like a tank. I really loved the simple knob integration compared to other devices with complicated screens and sub menus. This is as easy as it gets having separate knobs for microphones, cabs, and switches for positioning of the microphone and choosing the tube of the power amp. Yes it does have an amazing power amp simulation which it can be turned on/off to dial a perfect sound, and guess what it is fully controllable with master, gain knobs like a real amp.

Sounds: The sound is very realistic, I would say identical to a real amp. I’ve made an A/B test in my DAW by recording two separate guitar tracks with my pedalboard one through the solid studio by choosing the type of amp I’m using (EL34 with vintage 30s 2x12 cab and Shure sm57) and a second track with my pedalboard in front of my amp using the same gear. Hearing the two tracks back to back I could not tell any difference.
Pros:
- built quality
- sounds
- easy to use and dial your sound
- great value for money
- compact size fits perfectly in any pedalboard

Cons:
-The absence of 6L6 in the power amp section

Overall this is a great IR box to use both on home studio and on stage. A complete package in a very affordable price.

Simple et efficace
inu 29.07.2021

Fine, it just didn’t tickle my fancy

I have the Studio Mini cab simulator which is really good for what it is (good variety through headphones). The tubes here just didn’t add enough value for me to keep it.
