Thomann stood out at the 2011 Global E-Commerce Summit in Barcelona, during which the website was voted best online store in Europe! The summit provides industry leaders and executives with the opportunity to meet with experts, entrepreneurs and online retailers from all over the world and this is the first year the European E-commerce Awards have been held.
Nominated along with 7 other internet retail sites, Thomann was awarded first prize - the Gold Award - at an evening ceremony on 24th May at the spectacular Casa Llotja de Mar. The Silver Award was presented to Swedish tailorstore.com and the Bronze to the online supermarket nemlig.com from Denmark. The other retails websites in the running were: Letsbonus (Spain), CoolBlue (Belgium), Marks & Spencer (England), Bol.com (Netherlands) and Pixmania (France). Each nominee, having previously won a national e-commerce award in their own country, made a presentation to the international jury, which consisted of experts and market leaders in the field of e-commerce and online retailing.
