The best you can get for ypur vintage National guitar

I bought two of these National Resophonic Hot-Rod replacement cones.
I have bought quite a few over the years to replace worn-out/squashed cones in at least 5 vintage Nationals and a few were replacing the older non Hot-Rod cones that NRP made beforehand (which were still the best by far, you could buy back then).
The resonator cone is part of a sum of parts that contribute to the amazing sound of a National guitar. The original cones, in a well set up vintage National guitar can sound really ballsy and gritty on the bass strings and sweet sustain on the treble strings, but punchy all at the same time. These National Resophonic Hot-Rod cones give a very close reproduction of that marvelous sound. I'd say that there is less grittiness to the bass strings but other than that, they are the very best replacement cone you can get, by far.
I bought two plus two sets of Tricone cones - such is he confidence I have in this company. I have bought many in the past already.
I haven't yet tested thm for sound but I weighed them with digital scales and they are about 2g heavier than earlier versions of the hot-rod cones. Normally I would think this might not be such a good thing as they rely on being super thin (and thus light) to be loud and responsive, hence giving them only 4 stars for quality.
However, as I haven't yet tested them for sound, I may well come back and upgrade my assessment on them. Still very happy overall though

A superb Upgrade

I bought one of these National Hot Rod cones to replace the Continental Cone in my Michael Messer Blues 28 resonator guitar. I already have one of these fitted in my Busker Cannon guitar so knew what to expect. Thomann packed it really well and I received it in good time. I got a luthier to fit it as the biscuit needs to be shaped and cut as required. There was a noticeable improvement in tone. The guitar became louder, brighter, with more overtones than before. I would recommend these National Hot Rod cones to anyone looking to upgrade their existing cones. A great buy!!!!
