Not fit for purpose

As a solo singer/guitarist I bought this to take on gigs with me, to give some consistency in my sitting position and to cover me in venues where no appropriate seating was available. I am unfortunately totally disappointed with the stool.

It is heavy, very heavy and I'm afraid to say rather ugly. Handling is extremely difficult, which combined with its weight, has already endangered my fingers (important for my job) on several occasions (in only 3 gigs). Its original setting up was quite unfathomable, due in some part to the difficulty of releasing the various elements from their retaining bars, and this resulted in me damaging the retaining system even before I'd started. In use I don't find it completely stable, and despite what I find to be excessive tightening, various elements (notably the padded back support) work lose during the progress of a single gig.

A well known Scandanavian furniture retailer produed a stool some years ago for general use, which was everything that this product is not. It was light weight, comfortable to sit on, caused no digital endangerment and opened and stowed away flat in a simple one-handed movement. It also cost around £15, I believe. I only wish I could find such a stool now bei Thomann.

I really do not recommend anyone to buy this product.

Performing Guitarist Seat

I bought this after a review of the market. I had already tried other equivalents, but decided on this for several reasons. Stability is of prime importance, this has a generous footprint, also the design gives four welded leg joints which adds to its stiffness and also strength. The back is very useful, not always for a playing stance, but for those moments of rest when you can relax back, so I'm glad I didnt buy the stool without backrest. I found some equivalents had a back sloping too far away it wasn't really any use. The height adjustment to me is important. I found that I had to drill extra holes to allow the seat and footrest to be secured in different positions. It easily folds for transport, you just need to be careful not to trap your fingers!! ....thats why I put 4/5 for handling! All in all, very useful, adjustable, comfortable and transportable ....and good construction, I would buy another if needed. I think its a pity they didn't include a guitar support to complete the design.
