Unbelievable but true ... a wolf in sheepskin

Norbert879, 01.04.2012
THE HISTORY:

Over the last two decades, I have played my basses directly into the PA through high-quality tube preamps and modellers. Our boxing and monitor systems have not missed me a bit.

When I entered a second band in October 2011, a bass system was ready for rehearsal in the following combination:

Vollstrehrverstärker brand "Weber - MYWATT200" PLUS "Ampeg SVT410 HLF-Box".

This combination of basses has made me absolutely enthusiastic about its assertiveness and the sound. However, this package weighs stately 63 kilograms and is neither for me alone wearable, nor fits this stack in any normal car, silent in my SMART :-) In this band concept, however, nothing goes without a separate bass or guitar system.

For these reasons, I have from November 2011 to mid-March 2012 on the search for their own bass system. As a reference for the good sound was for me the described plant combination and otherwise it was something to find that I can carry alone - and also with my SMART transport.

I have systematically and cunningly tested and tested everything the market has to offer. THANKS of the competent advice at Thomann, I finally stood with the "Walkabout Scout" from Mesa Boogie in the test room. After many hours of direct comparison with "the rest of the world", I then the part in my SMART shipped and taken with into the band room.

When my "BABY" was standing next to the entrance described, this was a sight that immediately drove my mind -> "DAVID vs. GOLIATH" through the brain. The sight was to smile and I was excited and excited what the 1: 1 comparison would bring. There were 23 kilos of MESA-EDEL-COMBO in addition to a comparatively monstrous "Vollstöhrenverstärker" on a 4 / 10er box and the whole with over 60 kilograms total weight.

THE KNOWLEDGE:

Then the 1: 1 comparison -> the result has not only knocked me, but the whole band. MORE SOUND QUALITY, MORE FLEXIBILITY, MORE ENVIRONMENT, WARMER, FETTER & THEN TRANSPARENT BASS. My instruments (Music Man Stingray and Fender Jazz Bass, 4- and 5-string, no longer only give deep tones, but now also show their tonal variety and character.

The "Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout" is an absolute "beast" - a wolf in sheepskin. As my previous speaker has already said: If you close your eyes while playing, you have a feeling, there is a huge stack behind one. No matter in which corner of the bandroom you are - the sound is always clear and distinct (also in the belly). This is certainly the result of the overall concept and the bass radiator, which is built into the bottom plate of the combos and supports the low notes ingeniously.

For me, there is no alternative. I enjoy every moment with this device and from bass playing has become "SBAßSPIELEN" ;-) To mention besides KLANG, KLANG and again KLANG, the incredibly high-quality processing. In addition, technically everything is there and there, what you need as a beer. I was also very eager to see if the praised and adjustable DI in practice holds what he promises. HE DOES IT!

NEVER THANK YOU TO PAUL! The perseverance during systematic testing and comparisons have led to the best possible results for me and my requirements.

Wow, what an animal!

Bernd669, 28.07.2010
It is so small that it is small. But when you close your eyes and play, you mean you have a big stack in front of you. The 300 watts are more than enough, especially since the built-in bass radiator radiates enormous low bass from the ground. I did not need any addition to the gigs. Small club gigs without PA, he completes completely enough bass and for larger gigs with PA, the combo as a stage amp.

If it should get bigger, you can either connect another box (8 ohms, then you get a total of 2.7 ohms, the amp can handle 2 ohms without problems, according to the relevant forums) or unscrew the top section (6 screws) and individually With a large box combination. The sound is typically Mesa "American" warm with lots of headroom.
