Maton BB1200JH Josh Homme

I took a little while before deciding upon this guitar and tried some models from the more well known headstock brigades....glad I waited. Absolutely blown away straight out of the case...beautifully appointed, easy string changes on the gorgeous trapeze bridge, great neck, smooth frets, split coils, a great looking guitar and you can feel the balance and quality of the build as soon as you strap yourself in.
Crystal cleans on the splits and nice growl on buckers straight to amp (even on solid state amps...honestly) and different stratosphere when played on your board....fuzz, distortions, reverbs, modulators and delays all coped with and no feedback or howling issues.
I know it's a fair bit of money but I guarantee you will be really surprised at how versatile this guitar is.....I suppose if Hombre Homme sticks his name to it that's a bit of a clue. Highly recommended, Rory.

Think I was the first person to order one of these from thomann but I wanted to make sure the honeymoon period was over!!!
First the only negative... the pick up selector switch rattled, seemed loose, not want I wanted from a 2k guitar but moving on...
THIS guitar is amazing! You can get the pick ups to give you a telecaster twang or that humbucker warmth. Unplugged it sounds beautiful also, it really holds a note to let it ring out which shows its build quality. As much as I enjoy practicing at home(ive had it over a year and use it most nights) it really shows what it can do when I'm rehearsing or gigging with my main amp. The first time I plugged it in my jaw dropped. I've ended up selling my other guitars as this is all I use now. Can't say any more than that...

Die Bestellung:
Erst habe ich ausschließlich nach den großen amerikanischen Herstellern ausschau gehalten bis ich auf die Maton BB1200 gestoßen bin. Anfangs schreckte mich die Tatsache das es sich um ein "Signature Model" handeln sollte ab. An dieser Stelle sei aber gesagt dass nichts an der Gitarre darauf schließen lässt und es sich eher um eine Design Collaboration als um eine Signatur handelt. Selbst laut Truss Rod ist es eine "BB1200" also ohne JH in der Bezeichnung.
Nach einigen Internetrecherechen sowie Testvideos fiel nach reichlicher Überlegung die Wahl auf die Australierin mit 6 wöchiger Lieferzeit. Immerhin hält einer der größten Stoner Rocker überhaupt seinen Namen dafür hin und im worst case gibts ja noch die 30 Tage Money back Garantie.

Ankunft + Verarbeitung:
Die Gitarre kam sicher verpackt in ihrem dazugehörigen Hiscocx Case bei mir an. Allein das Case macht einen edlen Eindruck. Perfekter sitz - da wackelt nichts!
Dann beim auspacken der große und erfürchtige "WOW" effekt. Als hätte Crocodile Dundee mir diesen hölzernen Traum persönlich geschnitzt. Ein angenehm zu greifender Hals, perfekte Bundierarbeit, unglaubliche Saitenlage und dazu hängt sie auch noch super ausbalanbiert.
Tadellose Verarbeitung in jeder Hinsicht und perfekt eingestellt damits direkt los gehen kann.

Sound:
Eine Wucht. Wie eine Fusion einer Les Paul und einer Strat lässt sie keine Wünsche offen und kann vom smooth Jazz bis hin zum sludge Metal alles. Das Coil Tapping funktioniert einwandfrei ohne Lautstärke zu verlieren und bringt eine ganze Palette an Sound Variationen. Hinzu kommt ein unglaubliches Sustain welches seines gleichen sucht.

Optik:
Ist immer Geschmackssache. Bekommt von mir aber trotzdem die volle Punktzahl!
Mit der BB1200 ist man sowohl auf einer feinen Hochzeit als auch im heruntergekommenen Punkrockschuppen "zu Hause".
Hinzu kommt - wie schon erwähnt - dass es keine Merkmale einer Signature Gitarre gibt was mir sehr gut gefällt.
Einziges Manko ist eventuell der matte Lack der sich mit der Zeit unvermeidbar aufpolieren wird, aber dafür auch für eine tolle Patina sorgen kann.

Fazit:
Wer etwas besonderes zwischen den Standard Herstellern sucht wird hier fündig.
Wahnsinniger Sound kombiniert mit edler und doch verruchter Optik aus australischer Handarbeit.
Es muss eben nicht immer made in USA sein.
Preis/ Leistung hat mich völlig überzeugt.
