Marshall 1959 HW

20

Full-tube amp head

Whether it's alongside Jimi Hendrix or many other guitar heroes, this amp was and is constantly found as a companion - the "1959" is arguably the Marshall amp with the most eventful history, with the most reissues and special series, that has ever existed in the history of the Brits. And since 2004, there has been (parallel to the 1959SLP from the New Vintage series) yet another edition. The 1959HW is a very special treat, because it is completely hand-wired using the exact same manufacturing techniques to produce Jimi Hendrix's stage amps (at that time still in Jim Marshall's first factory in Hayes).

We will waste no more words on the sound qualities of this amp - that would be superfluous.

This is THE amp

First off, make no mistake - this thing is big, heavy and louder than you can imagine. It was built for a different era when PA systems weren't really made for guitars, so guitarists had to lug their own PA systems around in the form of these monster Marshalls and multiple 4x12 cabinets.

But, the price you pay for your commitment to that mass and volume (you will need to crank it) is THAT tone. You know, the one on all those old records. The one everyone wants, whether they admit it or not.

Mix it with a Gibson guitar and some nice Greenbacks and you're in heaven. It does everything from clean and understated (not at these volumes!!) to saturated, heavenly drive. All you need to do is turn your guitar knobs a bit and vary your pick attack.

What a wonderful piece of kit...

Very poor quality control
Ray. M 21.01.2022
i have been purchase several marshall amp, all of them have different kind of quality control issue. This one come with pretty bad shapes of metal chassis. The one side of chassis is not properly bend. It is leading to has a large gap between bottom wood and metal chassis. I could even insert a pen in to it. One of screws on back side of amp is drilled with angle. The viney cover is not glued properly at the corner. Good side is it still working properly, and i am tired with exchange procedure, so i will keep it and try to fix all these issues by myself. I will not buying any other marshall amp with such bad experience.
