Big & sexy.
Peter R. 438, 22.12.2015
On the large side for a 2 channel + mixer. But those pre amps are really sweet sounding & have brought my old, but very good, Japanese Audiotechnica microphones to life. I have a girl singer with a very "sexy" voice, this PRO FX4V2 mixer takes every croak & squeak of her voice and makes it sound even better!

This mixer feeds a single 500 watt JBL Eon 515 active speaker, the 2 together seem to really bring out the sound I have been searching for.

Mostly I am a solo act in bars and restaurants, the guitar button in the gain stages is very good and brings out a more natural acoustic guitar sound, saving me having to add a guitar pre amp, or a DI box with (I hate) batteries.

The FX don't really do much when I use only one speaker, I can only see me using the "doubler" just to fatten my guitar sound and maybe my voice a little. FX are very clean compared with past mixers I have had, so I will probably use them more than in the past.

This mixer also has EQ on the line (3rd) channel, good for anything attached, eg, keyboard, or MP3 players which don't always have a realistic EQ built in.

Graphic EQ is good when I'm get loud (late evening) & my acoustic guitar starts humming, I simply pull down the offending slider a little to kill any feedback & carry on.

I have 2 "against" to overcome. My last desk (Mackie 402 VLZ4) is about 1/2 the size & weight (same amount of channels) of my new mixer & also remarkably good which I simply hung on the connecting cables all pushed through the side handle of my EON 515 speaker, needing very little performer space & all the controls (the mixer) were right at my side & visible. My new PROFX4V2 mixer, is far too big and heavy to hang on the wires.

Second against is the power supply, for a "PROF mixing desk" its very cheap & nasty compared to any other make of mixer I have ever seen & could easily be the reason if I return this mixer to Thomann for a refund.
