A gig bag essential

I purchased the Mackie MTest-1 after having some recurring problems with cables while setting up at gigs. These set up problems cost us time, frustration with the venue managers because of late starts and our own rush to find the problem always led to frantic completion of our set up. Ultimately, we kept ended up starting the gig feeling frustrated and stressed.
This cable tester was a really simple and worthwhile solution to this problem. As soon as we got it we tested every cable in our rig, dumped or repaired the bad ones, purchased replacements and spares and have now removed all that stress.
Not only that but we now have a quick way of ruling out cables as the cause of any future issues.
One look will show you that this little box have the ability to test any cable you could be using in a standard band set up and while it does not come with a case it has exactly the type of solid build quality you need for any piece of gear that will be part of any bands tool kit.
In summary....if you gig regularly and use lots of cables in your band, save yourself time and stress and add this to your tool kit.
You might not use it often but the night you do need it you'll be glad you spent that money.

Poor quality

I bought this 8 months ago, and immediately tested all of my cables - it worked well doing exactly what I wanted.
Well, having some strange results with a new setup I used it a second time, and the main switch lost some part(s) when I turned it, so now the switch turns freely instead of stopping at each different position, and can show strange results when it is between the expected positions.
(And it has been on a shelf in between, not in a bag being carted around)

This has become my go to tester. It's clear, simple to use and comprehensive. Not cheap but quality is normally worth paying extra for. (with the notable exception of HB guitars!!!)

Donc, réel impression de robustesse avec sa boite en métal, il pèse un certain poids également, les speakons sont en neutriks, les XLR et jack ne semble pas l'être, mais on ressent le même confort et la même précision à l'enfichage qu'avec du Neutrik.
J'ai testé tout les types de câbles, il fonctionne parfaitement et c'est ce qu'on demande un peu pour un appareil de test. Les Leds sont vraiment puissante (cela éblouit les yeux si on est vraiment en face). Le switch est de bonne qualité sans pour autant être haut de gamme, mais on sent que c'est du costaud tout de même. Le reste à voir sur une utilisation intensive et à voir sur la durée aussi mais pour l'instant pleinement satisfait. Et le service Thomann au top du top.
