Great for our band practice room
Manolis K., 16.09.2016
And not only, I guess! We use it with a Behringer A500 power amplifier and older passive Peavy 15" monitors (2x) in a 20-22m2 practice room. Microphone input seems great, bass guitar direct seems great, electro-acoustic guitar great with some feedback issues, solved with a DI box I am told. Connected iPad mini- great. The low/mid/high controls work very well, boosting/cutting nicely. Seems sturdily built.
An included dust cover would have been nice. As would a dedicated mp3 or usb/ipad input. The solo feature allows to monitor clipping on each channel- great. Very pleased!

Mackies Evolution
Atomicosix, 07.09.2014
A Mackie mixer 1202VLZ I had already since 1998 in the live application. Later followed a Mackie 1402VLZ PRO, with which I was not at all satisfied, too many processing deficiencies (Made in China). The Mackie 1402VLZ3 was better by class than its predecessor. A new design and much better processing. This mixer served me reliably as a sub-mixer for keyboards & drumsounds for many years. However, his sound was not at all neutral, so I have now tried the 4th incarnation of the VLZ.

The processing is still very good. This time not only the Mic-Preamps but also the OP-ICs were implicitly re-embedded. A comparison with a Yamaha mixer and the original converter confirm this. The broadcasting sound is promised this time not only in the advertising.

The design of Mackie is again new, but the layout of the mixer has remained the same. In "reality" the mixer looks better than on the photos. Black does not seem to be fashionable at the moment. However, the new fader caps are a real "design sin" - they are totally impractical, the old ones were a class better, it is best to swap them out. Then you notice especially the now new fader in the mixer were installed, you go beautifully easy to push, much better than the old one. The equalizers do not seem to be "British" this time, but they are again packed, but the heights are quite "digital".

For the next version of the Mackie mixers, I wish the following:

- Master inserts (for live operation)
- Control LEDs for all channels
- a separate headphone control (for studio use)

Otherwise am full of this mixer excited.
