Feels good, does what it's told and has a proper manual!

I was using an AKAI MPK Mini to complement an Alesis V61 but came to realise that I needed something that I could program without using software* and with full-size keys.

The O25 seemed like pretty good value for money and ticked the boxes I needed ticking. Pretty much everything that can be programmed can be
programmed on the O25 itself.

To my surprise, it comes with a proper printed user guide/manual too! Although that's not particularly green it's much more convenient to refer to a printed user guide sitting on your desk than have to load it up in a .pdf viewer which, like a software editor, takes you away from making music and puts more strain on the computer.

Although the unit's housing is plastic it feels sturdy, with little to no wobble on the knobs and a nice, decent monosynthy feel to the keyboard.

My one quibble is that the pads can't be moved from MIDI Channel 10.
I use the pads on the V61 to mute/solo etc tracks/folders/groups in Reaper on Channel 16 and would have liked to do the same with the O25's on Channel 15. That's an irritation but is a minor concern given how good the O25 is in general.

I'm happy with it.

* the MPK's software is Windows & Mac only - I'm a Linux user. Even after getting it to run under WINE I still couldn't figure out how to access the the actual MPK editor.

I am used to composing music on guitar, mostly acoustic, I usually I play indie rock.

However I bought this product to widen my musical spectrum and compose electronic music, as well as to complement the other music I write.

Pros :

- Compact : Length its a little larger than a keyboard; I
- Connectivity : It is really fast to connect, it installs in under a minute
- Versatility : Since it has both keys and pads, it really does give depth to the music. For example I like to use the keys & pads simultaneously , it produces a very rich tones in this way. One must also add that you change the octaves of the keys, so this gives added versatility
-Keys- The keys are very responsive, and also have a natural feel to them
- Software : It comes with Ableton live lite , which is really good

Cons :
- Since it has 25 keys it might limit you if you are into playing more classical things. However for modern music it is enough.

Overall, I have found the Oxygen 25 very good for what I needed.

Exactly what I needed.

I had little to no experience using a MIDI keyboard but when I explored this keyboard it helped me understand there's more than meets the eye. Equipped with pads, knobs and velocity sensitive keys, this helped me understand the dynamics of what's important in a MIDI keyboard, not just the keys. Fast and easy set up. I love the quick access stop, start & record button functions. It allows me to concentrate on getting my idea recorded instead of constantly reverting back to Ableton and refreshing the recording. I have grown used to controlling the knobs for FX effects and also programming drum samples into the pads that give me the freedom to really control the sound.
This MIDI Keyboard is good for transport regarding size and fits on my desk reasonably with my computer/mouse.
I recommend this for musicians/producers of all genres of music except possibly more classical pieces due to the two octaves.

Great value for a quality keyboard

I use this keyboard for home recording. It's super light weight and portable, making it ideal for transport.
It comes with a lot of features and physical controls on the keyboard itself for adjusting sounds. This gives a satisfying tactile sensation and allows for much faster and more accurate adjustment of tone/EQ/effects, etc.

The accompanying software; Xpand! and Twist, are rather diverse and extensive in their sounds, great for someone getting started.

This is certainly a starting midi keyboard, and the price reflects that. However quality, build, feel and features are not sacrificed for price, and all together this is a very solid product.
