Works great but battery drains in storage.
TrEr, 13.10.2019
I got this for using in the studio with un-safe equipment that I wouldn't want to plug a guitar into using a cable. I'm talking about plugging into old tube radios/tape recorders using a jack-to-banana plug cable. Or into OLD un-grounded amps. Basically anything where there's even the slightest risk of dying from being electrocuted. I'd rather fry the Relay than kill someone.

I have no complaints about the sound quality but normally I wouldn't use this in the studio. An extra AD/DA conversion even before the signal hits the amp is something I definitely would want to avoid. But for health and safety reasons I like to use it for the examples above. I do love the sound of old tube radios with guitar and they can be found for practically nothing at flea markets.

I have not experienced any noise/interference issues when using this in a studio filled with analog and digital equipment. My studio is also located inside an international sea port with lots of transmitters/radars/sonars in close vicinity and there have been no problems whatsoever with the sound.

The Relay is very easy to use, works as specified and I'm not missing any features at all.

I'm not too happy about anything involving fragile micro-usb sockets though. Surely they could have used something else for the power cable? These things are bound to break and sooner rather than later.

Build quality is as good as can be expected from a plastic product. Decent but not great. Being plastic it is of course very light so the docking station isn't particularly stable. I wouldn't keep it on top of my amp where anything pulling on the power cable could make it fall and hit the ground.

One rather annoying issue for me is that the battery drains when the unit is left in storage for a while. I don't use old tube radios on every session so whenever I need the Relay there's usually very little battery left. To avoid mid-session delays for charging I need to plan ahead when I want to use it and that can be a bit problematic because the old tube radios are usually for spur of the moment stuff when the vibe is right.

Still, I'm reasonably happy with the quality of this product and I expect most people use it differently from me and the battery issue won't matter at all. The micro-usb socket doesn't fill me with confidence for a long life on the road though...

Works excellently, but beware of bricked transmitters
blueveek, 23.05.2017
Fantastic product, assuming you get one that works. My first purchase was dead on arrival, and from my research it seems that there's some non-trivial subset of customers worldwide that end up with bricked transmitters, either straight out of the box, or at a later date (even months after purchase) without any obvious reason. Firmware updates are supposed to fix some of these issues (assuming you can even get the thing updated).

That being said, Thomann customer support was extremely helpful here, and promptly exchanged the product. The second one I got works perfectly, and really is plug and play. When the transmitter is charged, just plug it into your instrument, and plug the receiver into your amp or effects processor, and presto.

Sound quality is excellent, over 2.4Ghz (same frequency most WiFi routers work on), and without any perceivable latency as far as I can tell. I wouldn't use it for recording (although I can't personally tell any difference between this and a cable), but it's fantastic for rehearsals. I'm a bit anxious to use it live (not fun if it bricks during a live setting).

I've never had to worry about the battery running out if I remember to leave the transmitter charging overnight. It's very easy to forget doing this.

A very good product for a steal price.

Nothing much to it. A simple transmitter with an onboard plug. A receiver which is a battery charging docking station. The whole operation is totally transparent. Plug and play. Output are TS and XLR.
Sound quality is great, and no latency (at least, none that you can actually notice).
One thing I wish would be different is the plug. I'd really rather have a female connector on the transmitter (and male plug at the receiver for recharging), so I could use any short cable with it instead of plugging it right into the guitar, which I really don't like.
It comes with an adaptor and a mini USB cable to power it. Very handy, but can be a hassle on your pedalboard since you need to use the adapter rather than a simple 9v.
It also comes with an angle adapter for the jack. Very handy.
A great sounding wireless In this bargain price, no reason to stick with cables on stage.

The G10 is a step up from all the wireless systems out there that have a wire dangling between the body pack and your guitar jack. I upgraded from one of those to the G10.

I often like to take my guitar off the stand and play it sitting down without a strap, so easy with this gadget, and so awkward when a body pack is on the strap with a cable to your guitar jack.

I have read some reviews that grumbled about this unit having various malfunctions when it was first released. Well I took this out of its box, charged it up fully (it was partially charged when it arrived) and it has worked perfectly since.

It holds its charge for hours of playing as advertised, and keeps its charge for hundreds of hours when not in use.

The bright, clear LEDs on the base unit and jack keep you well informed at all times, and look very cool!

The range is fine, although it would not transmit through the 1 metre thick stone wall of my house, but what would?

The sound and tone are 100%. Absolutely clean signal, no crackle, hiss, or cutout.

My only suggestion for improvement would be for the battery to fold back against the guitar body when plugged in.

I love it! But one day Gibson will fit these inside all their guitars and it will become redundant. Until then I am totally satisfied.
