Difficult to evaluate

05.03.2017
It is a combination of the double boiler and funnel mouthpiece. The lower kettle is bent inwards, resulting in a V-shape overall, which also approximately corresponds to the outer shape.

I have found contradictory information about the tonal effect of the V-shape. In the Thomann online guide, we read: "In contrast to the shape of the boiler, mouthpieces with the V funnel shape produce fewer overtones and the sound becomes softer and darker." Exactly On the contrary, we read in "crescendo brass" (manufacturer of thumb-mouthpieces): "The V-shape of the canalises and accelerates the airflow, resulting in a brighter, carrying sound, which is particularly rich in overtones." A similar explanation can be found in the instruction leaflet of the Jet-Tone-mouthpiece.

A comparison of the Jet-Tone mouthpiece to the arnolds & sons 12C results in a slightly smaller vessel diameter (as indicated by 24.2 versus 24.5), but a slightly larger bore: a screw that is just yet Through the Jet-Tone mouthpiece, no longer passes through the 12 C-mouthpiece.

Another difference to the 12 C is the round edge, without a clear inner edge, similar to the plastic mouthpiece of the pBone trombone. The round edge is said to facilitate the binding in a general view.

In addition, the Jet Tone with 82 mm is about 2.5 mm longer than the Stölzel, and it is still a little further out of the trombone. It does not sit quite centrically, if I do not push it firmly and turn something. This may be a processing error.

In the range I have, frankly, no differences to the Stölzel 12 C can notice. I reach it as high as it is, and also as deep down, that is, to the lowest pedaltone. Also in the sound I notice, after some days of the tasting, until now no difference. It remains to be seen what my trombone teacher says.

The mouthpiece is delivered in a fairly colorful, solid box with removable lid, well suited for storage, too bad to throw.

What first fascinates me about the mouthpiece is actually only the external shape, which differs remarkably from the usual bell or tulip shape. Whoever sees it for the first time, can scarcely believe that the bass voice can be played very well in the trombone choir.

The mouth of rve!

(Deutsch übersetzen wäre sinnvoll ....... Danke)
I played Jet Tone (Model Urbie Green) for years. This new mouthpiece is just fantastic. Everything is simple, super sound fortissimo or pianissimo), acute incredibly easy, enormous precision, and especially no fatigue even after a very long concert. For a trombone lead, perfection!
