Jet City Amplification Afterburner, dual stage overdrive, warm tone from blues up to singing solo sound with long sustain, to upgrade a 1 channel amp into a 3 channel amp, extra boost switch for more gain, gain/tone/volumen controls, enclosure made of steel and aluminium, power by 9V battery (optional # 132579) or external power supply (optional # 108096)
This thing is great. Built like a tank and with the additional boost feature, pretty versatile too.
It's not a harsh OD like a tube screamer but to me sounds smooth and warm. I can also hear some dry signal mixed in which is a nice touch.
My only con is - The boost to me doesn't give much of a 'boost' as such but just adds another layer of (very nice) gain. The sound changes but not with a great deal of volume increase. For solos I still rely on a separate booster pedal before this.
This pedal is great for switching between a verse and chorus rhythm sound or between a mild crunch and a more full distortion.
Still a great great buy for the money and it has replaced the ts1 on my board.
Jet City Amplification Afterburner dual overdrive pedal
I've heard good things about Jet City amplifier heads (in that they are relatively inexpensive for what they are, and that they sound amazing), so I figured I would take a chance on this relatively cheap dual overdrive pedal. I was not expecting such a high buid quality. The pots feel solid, and the metal chassis will take an absolute beating. The battery compartment and screw seems pretty substantial (though I never use batteries for cost and reliability reasons). Sound wise, I think this does exactly what it is made for, clean gain boosts into overdrive. So if you are after Tubescreamer/Fulltone Fulldrive esque tones for a fraction of the price, this is a great place to start.
