Very good amplifier in it's price range.

Bharat, 13.12.2013
This Amplifier comes with 2 channels, labeled as "Crunch" and "OverDrive", a tone stack ( EQ ) with Bass, Mid, Treble control knobs, two knobs to adjust pre-Amp gain for crunch and over drive channel one for each, and similarly master volume knobs for both channels each. And this version of the amplifier comes with presence and depth control knobs.
By increasing the presence value you will manage to cut through the mix more easily, basically by boosting mids, and highs.
And the depth control knob gives you more bass or low end. I find these controls very useful as depending acoustics of the room where you are playing you can make adjustments such that your amplifier can be still audible through the mix.

I came across many reviews where people were complaining about the "clean" channel sound, many complaints were that cleans are not really clean, but I don't agree with that. I did managed to get pretty decent clean sounds, you just have to roll down the pre-amp gain a bit.

And overdrive channel is lovely, you can get awesome thrash metal to extreme black metal distortion from it, this amp is very very hot.
I play lot of psychedelic/prog/stonner rock music, so turn the over drive gain knob close to 5 and use a fuzz pedal and roll off the fuzz intensity a bit, and set the depth knob to around 3'o clock, boom , you got the cool stonner-sludge sound !

And many people also complained about the problem with effects loop on this amp, saying that their pedals were not working properly. But they are wrong, there is no problem with the effects loop, it is totally fine it's just that the FX loop on this amp runs on Line-level, instead of instrument level, therefore the pedals designed to work on low-impedance will have problem, all the pedals that have input impedance of 1M Ohms will work fine.
See this link to see which pedals will work and which will not: quiet pleased with this amp, and there aquiet a lot of mods available for this amp, and I am a kind of guy who likes to tinker a lot, so I like it.

I am running this Amp through Framus 2x12 cabinet with celestion V30 speakers. And it sounds quiet nice.

And if you are worrying that a 100 watt amp is impossible to play in bedroom, don't worry this amp comes with a switch to toggle between 100W and 50W mode, switch to 50W and you can get volumes decent enough to play in your bedroom/apartment.

But yeah turn the volume knob to 2, and you will definitely require ear buds it is loud as hell, and turn that knob any more, you better make sure you got enough money to replace the glasses on the windows.

Overall I think this Amp is a pretty decent investment.

The mother of high gain...

Strum Laguerre, 08.02.2019
No real introduction needed, I'm just a guy who plays for over 30 years, used a lot of amps, on and off stage, as well as in studio environments... Well, everybody who's actually eyeballing this head, as I've been doing myself for quite some time, knows why this could be an interesting thing. Could it be possible? Legendary tone for that price? Where's the catch? And so on... one keeps on going back and forth between 'should I try it or not?' Well as I was nearing my birthday in January I was like 'cut the crap and let's get it over with' and I ordered one. Arrived in good condition, well packed in Thomann style I must ad, good job there!
I unpacked the amp, gave it a good look and put it to work. It came out of its box in 50Watt mode, i don't know if this was meant to be but it sounded good from the start. Everything works 100%, real sturdy pots on the front panel, does not have that cheap feeling you get from budget amps, everything is very responsive when it comes to gain adjustment or EQ. vhannel one goes from clean to crunch, crunch being a rich overdrive would be closer to the truth. Channel 2 delivers what we all hope for, that pure SLO tone and gain structure, the one that defines high gain, it's there people, it's rich, loud, not fuzzy, clear defenition, and headroom fot days... I actually tried out how loud I could go before the sound might get lost a bit, I didn't get there... There' s limits to the volume one endures... Two things: one: the overdrive/distortion is NOT fuzzy, it's SLO-like, which means it doesn't take mistakes by the player easely. Two: if you're watching your Thomann basket yet again with this head sitting in it, just do it, buy it, you just cannot be dissapointed. The term high gain was invented for this sound. The only thing that people don't trust is it's price. It's the price that even makes it more awesome, can't wait to get the Amelia next!
