Jarger compared to synthetics
Ralf685, 12.09.2016
My violin sounds somewhat tired in the frequency range of the A string with normal aluminum synthetic strings, for this reason I have been experimenting with different A strings for years. The Jargar-Forte-A performs better on my violin than for example Dominant. Sounds understandably a bit steeper than a plastic string but not aggressive and still much warmer than the Steel Tin E (Pirastro Gold Medium / Jargar E Daggers / Evah Pirazzi Gold Medium). The? Forte? Sounds compared to the "medium" Softer at a similar volume and a bit slower. In my opinion, Jargar has more power than chromecore and sounds warm as prim. I like the sound, it slightly deviates from the standard, but the deviation is compensated by my violin somewhat. The sound differences between E and A are just smaller with a steel-A and the ones from A to D (Dominat-Silber-Medium) are bigger - that is no surprise. All are just nuances and tastes. If you want to switch to a steel string, with Jargar in my opinion is well advised - they sound rel. Warm and are not so far away from synthetics, maybe even too soft for Fiddler.
