The cable is very thin for this which is worrying but had it 6-7months and nothing has broken yet. The batteries have lasted me a long time but i take them out when im not using it and dont use it every week. I have done a considerable amount of recording with this acoustic guitar mandolin and cello. I actually like the sound of these instruments when recorded but it is in no way a replacement for a good studio mic. As for live use, because of pandemic, i have not had the chance to test in a live situation. I have tested it through my studio monitors and got no feedback at all which is all i can say on that aspect unfortunately. Would I recommend? Its a difficult one to answer really. While i like it and instruments sound natural when recorded or played through speakers, im not impressed but i suppose for what it is its actually quite good. I could with mixing and production be very happy with using this for recording. On mandolin i like it and cello too but my acoustic guitar im very picky. With realistic expectations it can be a practical solution to picking up quite natural tones from instruments

Too fragile. The search continues...
PeterLB, 18.08.2021
After receiving the device, I tested it in my home studio and it sounded great after calibrating it to my classical guitar. I recorded a tune with it.
The next day I had a performance and the sound check went fine. I left guitar, and the device on stage. First some other artists performed, but nobody touched it. When it was my turn, there was no sound. We had to quickly get an 'old school' mic to do the job.
Later at home, it still didn't work. I can't find out whether it's the mic, the unit, or the wire. I tried new batteries, but still no sound.
The wiring is way to thin, the mic's mini plug is as weak as a needle. Despite of its name, this device is COMPLETELY UNFIT to be used live. I can't believe such a fragile device is sold as meant for 'stage'. It could have destroyed my concert and I won't let it do that again.
So far for the iRig. I'll return it. The search for a good recording device continues.

iRig Acoustic Stage feedback
MickM, 01.05.2017
I wanted a easy to use recording/review system to help me to improve my playing on several acoustic instruments. I found that the iRig Acoustic Stage preamp was versatile and gives high quality sound .
The iRig Acoustic Stage is easily fitted to any of my classical and acoustic steel string guitars. It's so quick to pick out a suitable equaliser setting for high quality I've not needed the customised setting yet. Sound quality is good and complements existing under saddle pickups well.
I can link it to an RC3 looper, pocket pod and earphones so that I can record phrases and replay at the touch of a pedal.
This has given me a great high quality learning tool. As a bonus I have found I can also record whole tracks onto the open software Audacity on my laptop which runs Linux (Fedora 25), all ready for editing and saving.
It's such a compact and portable package I'm really looking forward to improving my skills.
Only concern is that I found the pickup cable is rather long and thin so might be caught up in guitar straps and other cables.

Overall an excellent pickup with high quality sound.

Microphone jack unfit for professional use
Danilo Viaggi, 11.05.2017
Sound is good and the "Cancel feedback" feature works really nice, but the tiny microphone jack is a joke, totally insufficient for a device carrying the high-sounding definition "Stage" in its name.
