iConnectivity Magic Box
enox, 28.01.2015
This is definitive best MIDI product today! Very clever management integrated into this device and especially possibilities to easy manage device via iPad/Mac/PC simple shift iConnectMIDI 4+ to ?magic box?. Frustrating adaptation/exchanging parameters with changing instruments on the stage or studio, simple cannot exist on iConnectMIDI 4+. Just plug and enjoy in real plug & play?with other vendors reconnecting is usually followed with ?plug & pray??
I already had very positive experience with former (first) product of iConnectivity ? iConnecMIDI (two channels only); by the way, also purchased in Thomann?s shop. Both devices I use in my studio connected with various instruments (Hammond, Roland, Fender, Yamaha, etc.) and they are frequently recombined. In short ? always works perfect. I haven?t sophisticated instrument to provide serious technical testing but ?in vivo? both devices works without any (recognizable) latency, no strange echo over abandoned channel, clicks or timing problems, etc. Both type of computers (PC and Mac) are used with Sonar X3 Producer and Logic Pro respective. For managing (just few times ? usually it?s not necessary) I use iPad with iConfig and Port Manager installed.
So summary ? For musician which deal with MIDI technology this is ?must have? equipment and for any studio (small/mid/large) as well.
At the end only one objection: 4 channels typically aren?t enough and 6 or 8 channels will be better. Of course cascade of two devices are possible but I suppose latency or timing problem will increase in this configuration. So I hope iConnectivity will realize in near future device with more channels. I will be first buyer!

NEW!
Just to keep updated my point of the view: Few days ago I buy second iConnectMID 4+ in Thomann shop. This is excellent product, I am very happy with my first iConnectMID 4+ but I need more than 4 MIDI channel. So, all ?pro? I already explain and it?s not necessary to repeat that ? ?con?, anyway, cannot exist ? but I have to criticize iConnectivity company because they cannot introduce/produce such universal MIDI device with 8 (or at last with 6) channels. Probably many potential customer like me waiting on similar device. Well?what shell we do, this is reality and we have to wait more. So, now I am happy customer of two iConnectMID 4+.

Must have
Andro, 12.11.2014
This is a breaktrough product, a first and only one of its kind. Everybody seems to agree it has excellent features and I am no exception. It can be hard to understand but it is not the fault of the product - the state of affairs in music technology is such that solutions of this kind need to be quite complex.

Luckily, iCM4 tends to magically work right away, in a plug and play fashion. Not always - and that is where Setup software comes into play and a bit more understanding is needed. Bundled software (mine was OSX version) is ok, but no cigar. User interface is rudimentary and can be improved. Better UI could improve understanding of complex connections and make everything easier.

Nevertheless, there is no comparable product on the market and that is quite an achievement these days. Good job!

Build quality is excellent, the box is not just pretty, it looks and feels rock solid.
