A close recreation in small form
TheOakDwarf 20.02.2023
The TS mini delivers the classic tube screamer sound, with only a slightly different flavour from his larger brothers. Generally not noticeable, but here and there you feel the sound falls a bit flat in the high mids, especially when stacked with other ODs.

For most use cases however, it's a perfect pedal if you're building a smaller pedalboard, but still want the classic sound of a tube screamer.

Build quality and feel are also absolutely top notch, no issues with any of the knobs.

Only thing to keep in mind is that the smaller 2 knobs are impossible to read and adjust based on their position, so if you're someone that likes to change level and tone settings during a set, consider getting a bigger TS.

No compromise (well, kind of)
Ebos 18.03.2021
So yeah there are differences between the mini and the TS808....can I blind test A/B and be able to tell which is which? No....can you? Probably not. TS Mini sounds stellar! Especially as many players' must-have OD having such a small footprint means you can easily fit it on any board no problem.

Build quality is phenomenal, thing is built like a brick. Everything feels top notch. The bottom is quite finnicky when it comes to sticking velcro. The WORST thing about this pedal is that the Tone and Volume knob are built in a way where you can't possibly ever see where the notch on the knobs. This makes fine tuning a pain in the bottom-end, especially for those who are particularly specific about their knobs (no pun intended).

I mean....talk about value for money....

Used as a shaper
jhberges 16.01.2022
I use it as a tone shaper into my Engl Fireball.
It could have been a bit fatter/deeper in it's response, but it's an ok trade off for the size of the pedal.

tbh... idk
MCMXCI 01.02.2021
Maybe the knob size is its biggest defect (Volume and Tone)...
Too small, there' no white indicator on them, can't ever tell where they are (without a ton of light in the room)
It seems to be a lot darker sounding compared to other TS like pedals

You Know What it is Already

I use it mainly for a mildly overdriven clean/on-edge/bluesy tone. It does that very nicely, and has pleasing harmonics & touch sensitivity.

I also use it to add more gain, tightness and a mid-range, "vowel-like" character to my high gain rhythm tone. It does that well too, which is why that's a classic use of it. That works well stacking into another pedal or running into the front end of an amp.

I had to have one, and I like that it mimics the 808 design in micro. It's an aesthetically pleasing and sturdy, weighty little box.

My only complaint is that you can barely see where the smaller tone and volume knobs are pointing, especially from any distance or with the led on. Some little white strips there would help with visibility. Take a leaf out of the Nobels Odr-Mini book, they have off-white/glow-in-the-dark ones.

Great pedal for the money
TTguitar 10.03.2020
The ibanez ts9 is a great pedal. You get that sweet tube screamer tone in a smaller box and for almost half the money. It works great with other pedals too (with my Blues driver i get an amazing lead sound).
Pros:
-great sound
-small (and relatively cheap)
-works great with other pedals
Cons:
-small controls for the tone and level

The smallest .. and the poorest of the Screamers
Mombasaflash 09.10.2021
Size Matters. I fond these mini pedals to be a bit of a false economy. They take up marginally less space on the pedalboard but the small fiddly knobs are frankly a PITA. I recently revisited TubeScreamers and conducted a comparison test between the Ibanez and Maxon offerings.

This one came out in last place as being the most brittle sounding.

Delicious
Anonymous 10.10.2016
That's what this pedal is to me - Delicious! It makes my amp sing, especially since I have a Marshall TSL 122. At first when I had it I was using it with a Fender Mustang II V2, which just added more gain to the already overly driven amp, but then by putting it with a simulated fuzz pedal on it I got some really awesome distortion tones.
I've tried out other overdrive pedals like the Zakk Wylde overdrive or the Boss OD-3, but neither of them quite achieve the same tone I come to expect from the Tubescreamer-Mini. The build quality is great, I love the metal on it, the size, the shape, the colour. I do not like the two mini knobs for level and tone, but they don't bother me. This pedal does it all for me and I am happy to use it!

Versatile overdrive in a compact format
Gitarrad 12.12.2020
I have used this as my only overdrive playing rock and also in a chain of drives and it sounds very good. It is solid and simple to use.

My only problem is that after a few months of use it started to rattle whenever I turned the 'overdrive' knob. It didn't affect the sound in itself but it is just frustrating to turn the knob during a gig and make an ugly sound. Might have to change the pot, but for the price this pedal was worth it.
