The quality of the guitar is excellent.

shred40, 04.05.2013
The JEM 70V-SFG is beside my S420WBK my second Ibanez made in Indonesia (MII). Unfortunately, the processing quality is not the same for both guitars. There are no bad problems, so I decided not to return the JEM, but the flaws of a brand like Ibanez are unworthy:

- Neck sat obliquely in the cutout and had to be reoriented
- Holes for neck mounting and plug bad / not painted
- drip nose in the varnish (gottseidank) on the back
- Crack in the handleboard (below the 24 collar.

In addition, the factory setting was under all S .. (onnenblume) so that I, just like my S420, instead of the same time first unpack the tool had to unpack for 1.5 hours of adjustment work, neck straight, intonation new adjust, etc .. Who No guitar-tech is and no one has in his environment is with these instruments corresponding badly bad if not at all. In delivery, the instrument was unplayable, in my opinion, a price in this price class.

Now, setting a guitar is also a taste, there are people who like the strings rather higher adjusted, I prefer these but afap (as flat / almost as possible) since I sweepe very much. The string position of my JEM was on the factory ahap (....;))) with about 3mm e1 on the 12th fret. This was due not least to the neck curvature which had been completely forgotten at the final inspection; The neck adjustment screw was loose.

Now the temperature difference between Indonesia and Central Europe is quite high, perhaps the setting at 40 degrees heat was optimal, at 20 degrees it was not. Since according to a cardboard a further final check with the German importer was made and possibly still another with Thomann, it is still a mystery to me how one can deliver a rather high-priced instrument so poorly adjusted. I can only explain it to myself that the people who make these checks themselves do not play the guitar.

But enough bitched, because after the fun comes the joy, and it makes such a MII JEM quite. The sound is absolutely the hammer, the blue miracle is worthwhile as it pushes powerful and smacks and bubbs and catpurrt and stevevait joyfully before itself. The Ibanez Edge Tremolo is a safe installation and does not cause any harm to the instrument or the player. The DiMarzios offer useful sounds in all combinations.

There is, at least at least, the phenomenon that certain guitars, just like the "different", have a tremendously inspiring effect and you suddenly found yourself that you play completely different riffs and licks than usual, one leaves the "comfort zone" and to certain extent Is inclined to try new things simply because the guitar invites you to it. To make it clear, the JEM 70V-SFG is "different", which became me at the first test already to the certainty. Mr Vai does not call his JEM (7V) by any means EVO because with this instrument an evolution is probable.

The overall quality, apart from the optical flaws, the MIJ 7V JEM is in no way inferior, sound and playability are beyond any doubt, and that is exactly why it is so unfortunate that in the cosmetic care and the final acceptance was slashed, one had Namely "almost" the perfect guitar built. But presumably "these" may only come from Japan and cost more than double the cost. Premium is probably not yet prestige.

Ultimately, there is, despite the annoying small deficiencies a clear and decided purchase recommendation. This JEM is a real JEM and not a budget model like the 555. The JEM 70V-SFG is the latter in any case preferable and is synonymous for any JEM collector is a must. As far as the flaws are concerned, I say to myself: As a matter of fact, each of my 17 guitars has some flaws or flaws, you get used to it (if you want) and as long as sound and playability are as much fun as with the JEM70V SFG, I can live with it , And now I go further.

Despite everything, 5 stars of 5
