A top bass at the best price

Achim aus J., 23.07.2015
I already have 2 ATK basses from Ibanez and know the parts inside and out. Therefore I allow myself to write a report after only one day.

First of all thank you to the hardworking people at Thomann. Very fast delivery and a perfect handling! Thank you!

In my life I played many basses. Yes, even a music man from the USA. The sound was great, no question. But I find that these instruments have become much too expensive. Even a slightly more favorable "Sterling" can not compete in any way in direct comparison with the Ibanez ATK810. Of course this is my very subjective opinion. But I play bass since 1978 and look back on a lot of experience.

What makes the ATK810 "better" than the Stingray? There are many small things that add up. First, the Ibanez is more flexible in sound. Already the cheap ATK's have 3 different basic sounds, whereby the middle position of the switch comes a Music Man very close. I personally 2 different sounds at a gig perfectly. I do not use the 3-band sound control, because the basic character of the sound is already very coherent. The additional "singlecoil" on the 810, which is actually a humbucker, considerably extends the bass range. But in spite of the sonic resemblance to the Music Man, the AKT has its own character and remains always very strong in the band structure, without the excessive use of the EQ understands itself. This is very important!

This Ibanez is far more than just a cheap "copy" for frugal musicians, but is a very independent instrument. The bass was already adjusted ex factory, the processing is on a very high level. No matter what part of the instrument. For this reason, I do not have to write a lot or look for errors with the eagle eye and the magnifying glass. I do not find any!

The bundle and feel is perfect. A real hand flatterer. Moreover, the AKT810 comes beautifully. A pleasure for the eyes, who stands for a natural finish. A small point of criticism is perhaps that there is no way to switch between active and passive operation!

Beginners or fans of slender necks may be somewhat irritated at the beginning. But this is very fast. I myself feel on thin necks for a long time not really well ;-)!

Both of my old ATK's put a weight on the scales. A wide and padded harness is compulsory. Ibanez has learned about the ATK810. This bass has become noticeably lighter, but still no flyweight. He does not have to be, because after all, he is an ATK. Mass is there program.

For which target group is the AKT810 now recommended? Actually, for those who do not mind if "Ibanez" instead of "Music Man" is on the headboard. The bass is suitable for all who prefer to hold a really sturdy tool in their hands, as a filigree toy. And it is suitable for all who want to acquire an excellent sounding instrument in great workmanship, at a reasonable price.

I would also like to point out that a very decent and really useful Softcase is included. Also no self-evident at other manufacturers. That is why for me, in the sum total of all positive things, an absolute purchase recommendation is obtained!

Finally, I would like to mention that my supplied bass is exactly the bass from which the pictures here come from Thomann - hahaha :-)!

Really nice premium bass!

Ringo Star, 05.02.2016
The ATK 810 is without a super instrument but with a nice preci sound, which is really impressive.
The weight, the processing and the accessories are really great at the Ibanez!
The ATK is a real premium bass, which is also a real eye-catcher with the finish.
The neck of the ATK is untypical to Ibanez, because it is more voluminous than is usually used by Ibanez.
Do not worry, the bass is still very good.
The Dreiband EQ is very well done and shows no weakness.
The sound diversity is very good thanks to the choice of pickups and the possibility of mixing them.
It is hard to believe how much bass you get with buying an ATK 810.
It does not have to be an original USA bass if you want a characterful sound.
The ATK 810 is a cream part!
