Wonderful amp!
Finally home after some years in the modeling world (Axe, Line6...).
The responsiveness from a tube amp is about 1000 times faster than a solid state circuit - it doesn't matter if a digital copy can sound or behave like a tube amp, when comes to higher volumes - you can feel the difference. The Mark 3 shows superb quality in all 6 channels from crystal clear clean to heavy overdriven sound. Compared the clean channel 1with my Mesa Lonestar - no difference.
The product presentation from H&K is very good and gives a fair presentation of the sounds and functions. But - they should not add other instruments to the Amp presentation.
3x2 tubes of all kinds gives many options.
Drawbacks:
-Difficult to cut high frequencies in the overdrive channels - could be of value with a built in EQ before the power stage. I solve it easy with a stomp box EQ in the preamp out slot.
-Impression of not so "bullet proof" quality as Mesa. 15 tubes to brake...
-Settings difficult to see , metal knobs should be marked with spots /LED or something.
-Price, of course.

Triamp Mk III - Part I

GustavTrompete, 28.08.2015
+ UNPACKED +
At first, I was positively surprised by how much accessories Hughes & Kettner attached to their flagship. The manual (and book is true here) is very nice and practically written - neither technical Chinese nor too obvious á la "The volume knob regulates the volume". There are also tips on power amp combinations. Read the quiet times, is interesting!
But a manual could be expected. That a sticker is there is nice, but not war-decisive. The included foot switch, however, already. If you have looked at the prices of midi boards, know that you spend for something like at least 120EUR - is, is great. Just like the 9m 7-pin midi cable (5pin midi + power supply, normal cables go as well). The innovations, for which Hughes & Kettner are well-known, one notices here also, if rather in the Nebenschächlichkeiten: it is exactly no matter what kind of power supply one uses (only with 5pin MidiKabel necessary, since without phantom power). One can connect everything between 9 and 15V, whether direct current or alternating current, polarity also no matter. Why do not you do it all?
Over the midi board have already left some reviews. What surprised me, however, was that a protective cover is enclosed (for example in Gigbag wall thickness), cleaning tool for the Plexiglasscheibe, so that one not with Spülschwämmen or similar. Scratched and an anode fuse. Does not have everything. Is everything great.

+ ADDED +
The device itself is of course very chic. Since I also read and reviewed every available review in German and English, I knew, of course, how to deal with the mass of the buttons. Would be otherwise synonymous for every thinking person in 3 minutes clear ...
Interesting I found the NoiseGate (so far I've always done this over my GMajor2). This works really well, although I have, although I mostly play according to Metal, the controller (how hard the gate is closed) rather gently adjusted. Enough.
What is nice, is that there is a DI-Out. I do not use it, but maybe you need it.
What is really cool are the two effects. First you have a MIDI switchable FX loop (parallel or serial - also switchable via MIDI), you know that yes. In addition, however, you have a master insert for permanently active devices like tuner or in my case the Sonic Maximizer from BBE, to the sound still something to be fed.
So: Preamp -> FX-Loop -> Master Insert -> Power stage
In addition to the individual channels, there is also the master section, where you can adjust the volume, the depth, and the "presence" of each channel .
Of which I have not noticed much, is the TSC (Tube Safety Control). This automatically sets the right currents for the power amplifiers. I have no idea of. But if you do not mind, it can only be good. Also great, that you can now make a tube change itself, because the amp the tube currents itself meters and adjusts. A pity for guitar stores, nice for me. In addition, you can obviously just about every tube, which one finds so. If you want to know more, you can read the manual.
The fact that the Triamp3 can also be used to change the power amplifiers, is now known, is H & K's great advertising ...
Another great feature is the Stomp-Box pre-preamplifier. But for this, see below.
You know, there are a lot of features, all of which are clever, thought-through and practically implemented.

... hopefully I can get rid of the rest of my review in a second part ...
