A dream instrument for professionals
Wolfgang F., 17.02.2010
What Höfner offers with the HM 88 is an incredibly good and also rare instrument. Only the very best woods, as used in all professional guitars in the world (ceiling of long-standing and selected alpine spruce, body of East Indian rosewood), are assembled by the master craftsman. This takes of course and therefore the HM 88 is also not to get at each street corner (onlineshop). Each HM 88 bears the signature of the master.

Their processing is incredibly good and clean. Have not seen any better so far. She speaks very (!) Well and you can influence the sound in any direction. I have not experienced this in many years.

The treble sounds simply wonderful and the basses are clear and clear, but not too bulky. Very well balanced. What makes me around is the playability of the HM 88. Ex-factory string position 6mm, 12th fret over E, technically fast and fast. I dare the prognosis that even deeper layers go without snarl, as the neck construction appears to me extremely stable. The guitar supports playing!

Noises are reduced by the very good response. The neck shaping comes with very much. The sound of the HM 88 is not defined in a style direction. Bach and Tarrega are beautiful to interpret, you have hats in your fingers.

Conclusion: for a good 1000.- Euro a bargain. Where is a hand-crafted concert guitar of best full-mass wood at this price? I have played many guitars, especially Spaniards, all very nice and also very expensive. But not even better, if different. Who means (as in some forums) with the HM 88 it could not be a master instrument,

The flagship of the H fner classics guitars
pgroehn, 03.09.2010
My old beginner-classic guitar, on which I have learned, has not made me any longer fun. So I decided to buy a high quality classic guitar. After playing and comparing about five guitars of the same price class, the choice fell to the Höfner.

The HM88 is high-quality processed and has good timbres. The wings of the machine heads are made of wood and fit well with the look, the pleats on the neck are pleasing. The neck is quite thick, but this is also the case with other high-quality classic guitars. After a while they get used to it.

The sound is loud, transparent, with good bass and clear mids and highs. I play in particular classic material from Renaissence, Baroque and Middle Ages. In this area, the guitar scores with others by the precisely right neutral sound. For Flamenco and Bossa etc., there are probably even more suitable guitars. But that is a matter of taste.

As a bonus, there was a certificate for Höfner's guitar with the sound spectrum, great. Unfortunately however no own suitcase - here you have then just on standard products.
